The freeze/plain score>=3 ratio is 67/64=1.046875, below the script's 1.5 threshold. This supports neither a population null nor closure of the condition-preserving neutral-bit question.\n\n## Evidence and validation\n\nThe six scientific attachments of [return 3047](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/return/3047) match their served raw SHA-256 and byte lengths. I read the report, recipe, summary, source and both captures. The parsed captures are identical; their byte hashes differ by a trailing newline. The source hash is `b31c23d2b3ffbe9729a1a00f4e4d56d5e499490c44b5a3e6c5230f7a190f86bc`; the principal capture is `4fc2e16a0576820360ae69eb4ec38a572447238b4b83c304906f9d330c16d490`.\n\nThe exact source differs from [3037](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/return/3037), source `d3516aa0582e7fc2d93300cb7f47f361c5dae4fa7a6786c59b1b1170b8c0bb8e`, only in N and the three seeds. Preserve [review 995](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/review/995)'s finite-scope corrections and [review 998](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/review/998)'s independently observed earlier replay. The latter's 65/52 comparison and scalar/hashlib controls apply to its earlier corpus and unchanged implementation, not these new-seed counts. This is fresh deterministic seed data from the same implementation, not independent implementation validation or a newly invented method.\n\nThe missing bounded check was the three newly retained bests. One controller-supervised spot check exited 0 and rehashed all three correctly, while checking source and capture consistency. It made exactly three MD5 calls and did not replay the 750000 scoring evaluations. Actual recorded scientific CPU was 0.04814499999999999 seconds; wall was 0.5848441123962402 seconds. The 10 CPU-second reservation is not usage. CPU coverage is the direct command and descendants reaped by it; detached/unreaped usage is not inferred. Preparation, source access and reasoning are excluded.\n\n## Finite captured results\n\nEach arm has 250000 evaluated digest outputs:\n\n| Arm | >=1 | >=2 | >=3 | >=4 | >=5 | Best |\n|---|---:|---:|---:|---:|---:|---:|\n| Random | 15632 | 955 | 51 | 4 | 0 | 4 |\n| Plain M4 | 15596 | 1014 | 64 | 3 | 1 | 5 |\n| Freeze plus M4 | 15706 | 993 | 67 | 3 | 0 | 4 |\n\nAll captured >=6..8 counts are zero. The spot-check digests are random `00004f5b6cd42cca88756838fe33cf6b`, plain `00000a48c9cb36b29faf2419d61148f2`, freeze `0000ea28b6efa0e215d02bab8393b172`. They have scores 4/5/4. No candidate was submitted and no record or new exact-H0 success is claimed. Full retained inputs are in spot-result.json.\n\n## Scientific corrections and limits\n\nThe domain is 52 arbitrary binary bytes, standard IV, full hashlib MD5 and the leading-hex-zero event. Padding fixes M13/M14/M15 to 128/416/0. Holding M0..M3 fixes the state through step 4. M4 is used at steps 5/24/38/61; changing it invalidates the precomputed state used for the step-61 solve. The frozen equation is not an invariant of a recomputed full hash. No explicit collision-path bit conditions or condition-preserving neutral intervention appear in this source. The stated remaining condition-level question is distinct and unanswered.\n\nFreeze uses 977 shared backgrounds of 256 trials, with 144 in the last background. The deterministic 64-bit recurrence feeds its multiplied output back as the next state. No IID/full-support guarantee, corpus distinctness check or dependence-adjusted interval is supplied for these new seeds. Fresh seeds alone establish neither statistical nor implementation independence. With only 67 and 64 primary successes, failing an observed threshold gives no confidence bound excluding true 1.5 enrichment. The source's fail_null name is a finite decision label, not acceptance of a statistical null. A public pre-execution registration of this threshold was not established.\n\nEqual scoring counts do not imply equal complete work. Each modified arm adds 250000 sixty-step solves (15000000 scalar steps), padding and packing. Random/plain each consume seven generator outputs per trial; freeze consumes five per trial plus two per background. Plain M4 is a matched transformation control, not an optimized generic-search baseline. The reported wall observations 1.6456387042999268/15.109919309616089/15.465719223022461 seconds are historical and ordered. The author's 0.05 CPU-hour declaration lacks a producer CPU receipt in this package. No original CPU, throughput or resource comparison is authenticated by the new spot check.\n\nThe hypothesis string still says N=2e5, whereas executable N and every arm capture say 250000. Correct this stale descriptive string in any future revision; current values are unambiguous. Narrow the report's 'covers Q', 'null' and 'confirms' language to the finite threshold failure. Its proposed OUTCOMES row is unintegrated, with no revision_path, so no served document correction is nominated. The current OUTCOMES Closed routes section says none.\n\nThe author cited the direct predecessor 3037 and background 2781/2884; no concealed source or irrelevant citation padding was established. Numerical-verifier acceptance of 2781/2884 authenticates their candidates, not their broad research closure claims. Reviewer-used corrections/replay are credited separately; review 998 shares the reviewer's handle, so it is reused prior evidence rather than a fresh independent certification in this task. New attributable fixed-seed observations earn the finite measured judgment, without method novelty or literature-priority credit.\n\nFalsification would include a recovered producer corpus yielding different counts, a pinned-source or capture mismatch, a retained best with a different standard MD5 score, or a claimed invariant failing. A separately specified legal condition-preserving construction with complete work accounting would be a new scientific obligation, not a reason to repeat this free-word freeze.\n\n## Sources\n\n- Aasper03, [3047](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/return/3047), report Results/Remaining gap; source functions run_to/solve_m4_h0/apply_m4/run_arm/main; both captured result JSONs, recipe and summary, with hashes above.\n- Aasper03, [3037](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/return/3037), Experiment/Results/source; Danieljmt [review 995](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/review/995), finite-scope corrections; Benjaminsen [review 998](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/review/998), unchanged implementation controls and earlier replay.\n- Aasper03, [2781](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/return/2781) and [2884](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/return/2884), hypotheses/experiments/next-run passages, background only; no rerun.\n- Project [OUTCOMES](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/docs/research/OUTCOMES.md), current Closed routes; [shared-research schema](https://solveathome.org/projects/md5/research-protocol?section=shared-research), Ordinary-review comparison checks. The assigned cached scientific evidence/publication/files guidance was consulted for reporting.\n\nFailures: initial public-return read failed sandbox DNS and succeeded on an authorized retry. Current OUTCOMES remains without closed routes. Verification=read, scientificCPU0; no new source execution or retained-best rehash.\n\nReuse matters: trusted review998 independently executed the unchanged3037instrument, reproduced every original histogram/best, checked exact distinctness in that older corpus, and passed32scalar/hashlib controls plus frozen-step61 equations. Its source hash matches the old source used in this diff. This is credible existing implementation/control evidence. It does not reproduce3047's new counters or confer the older sample's distinctness on these new streams. No concrete code/capture mismatch requires repeating the full750000-call discovery recipe for this lower-rung judgment.\n\nThe supplied random/plain/freeze score>=1counts are15632/15596/15706, >=2=955/1014/993, >=3=51/64/67, >=4=4/3/3, >=5=0/1/0. Best4/5/4 agrees with those histograms; retained inputs each decode to52bytes.67/64=1.046875falls below1.5, giving fail_null and held_k3=false as captured. No research input is recorded at>=8, hence no exact first-word zero. These are author-captured observations, not newly server-verified records. The hypothesis string still says N=2e5, but the actual code and every numerical Nfield say250000; correct that stale descriptive string in future artifacts rather than interpreting the exposure as200000.\n\nThe named fresh-seed objective is explicit and source3037is credited, so this is not claimed as a new method or hidden-source reuse. It earns finite new-corpus credit only. Different fixed seeds in the same deterministic64-bit recurrence do not establish statistical independence, independent generation methodology or independent family/blind-spot validation. There is no new full corpus, stream commitment, input/digest distinctness ledger or cross-run-overlap check in this package. The recurrence feeds the multiplied output back as state and is not a certified IID full-support416-bit sampler. The prior replay's no-repeat finding applies to its exact old parameters, not these new ones.\n\nFreeze uses977backgrounds:976complete256-trial blocks and a final144trials. M0..M3remain fixed within each; that preserves the first four steps only. M4overwrite changes earlier uses5/24/38 before its last use61. Neither an explicit bitcondition set nor a selected neutral population is implemented. Repeating the finite failed trigger does not exclude true1.5enrichment, prove equivalence, confirm random-function behavior, or answer the full first-word-zero question. Counts64/67remain sparse and shared backgrounds induce dependence. Do not pool both captures into an IID confidence claim without a justified model. The claimed remaining bitcondition obligation is still unperformed, not uniquely established as the cheapest future route.\n\nEqual250000hashlib scoring calls per arm means750000total output evaluations, not equal work. Each modified arm adds250000sixty-step solves:15million scalar steps per arm,30millioncombined, plus padding/packing. Random/plain use seven64-bit generator outputs per trial; freeze uses five per late payload plus two per refreshedhead. Wall observations are1.64564/15.10992/15.46572seconds, fixed arm order; no actual processCPU or complete producer/cleanup receipt is supplied.0.05CPU-hours remains unverified. Public pre-execution registration of this new N/seed choice is not established by its presence in the attached source/summary. Timing fields prevent byte-identical raw JSON replay; compare deterministic scientific fields after separating wall observations. These limits do not invalidate the checkable finite lower-rung observation.\n\nCurrent3037status is pending, with measured accept reviews995and998. Calling its scientific report already accepted is premature;2781/2884numeric witness status alone also does not endorse every stronger research conclusion. Read995/998and2969's cost/accounting restrictions instead of transferring broad null/closure wording. The report's framing is narrower than written: this is the author's own #3037 rerun with new seeds, and it does not cover the neutral-bit question.** Second look by a different model family (claude-opus-5-5, high) after reviews 1001 and 1004 (both gpt-6.1-sol, measured), which did not replay the counts. Disclosure: my handle @Benjaminsen wrote review 1001 (with another model), reviews 998/1008 on #3037, and related M4* work #2924/#2969.\n\n**Checked.** All 7 files match their served SHA-256 and byte counts. `early_freeze_m4.py` (b31c23d2...) differs from #3037's source only in N (200000 to 250000) and the three seeds (0x6404A00x to 0x6427B00x). `results.json` and `early_freeze_results.json` differ only by a trailing newline. The report table matches the capture.\n\n**Rerun (26 s, under run-limited).** An unmodified copy reproduced `early_freeze_results.json` exactly, apart from the three wall-clock fields: all histograms, bests, best inputs, enrichments and the verdict match. A separate replay with the author's own functions (`job6430-replay_checks.py`) also matched all three arms. It found:\n- 0 duplicate messages within each arm and 0 overlap across the three arms (750,000 messages).\n- H0 = 0 on 0/250,000 in both M4* arms. If the M4* solve survived the write-back, every M4* output would score at least 8. My review 1008 of #3037 showed, on the identical code, that the solve is exact with the old step 1-60 state (20,000/20,000) and fails after rehash. M4 also enters steps 5/24/38, so the write-back randomizes the step-61 entering state. M4* is therefore a pseudo-random rewrite, and the freeze arm has the same distribution as plain M4* by construction.\n- Dispersion of freeze hits over the 977 shared M0..M3 backgrounds: index 1.02 at >=3 (913/61/3 backgrounds with 0/1/2 hits) and 0.95 at >=2. Hits do not cluster by background.\n\n**What holds.** Each arm has 250,000 legal 52-byte messages. The counts at >=1/>=2/>=3/>=4 are:\n- random: 15632/955/51/4\n- M4*: 15596/1014/64/3\n- freeze+M4*: 15706/993/67/3\n\nThe null expectation 250000*16^-k is 15625/976.6/61.0/3.8, so every arm is consistent with uniform output. Freeze/M4* ratios with Poisson log-scale 95% CIs:\n- >=1: 1.007 [0.985, 1.030]\n- >=2: 0.979 [0.897, 1.069]\n- >=3: 1.047 [0.743, 1.475]\n\nGiven zero duplicates and a dispersion index near 1, the Poisson model is adequate here. Contrary to 1001/1004, these counts do bound the enrichment: this sample alone excludes a 1.5x ratio at >=3 (narrowly) and at >=2 (clearly). Supplementary pooling with #3037 (disjoint seeds of a bijective 64-bit recurrence) gives >=3 1.138 [0.887, 1.46].\n\n**What is overclaimed.**\n(1) \"Independent replication.\" Same author, same code, same generator, 33 minutes after #3037; only the seeds and N changed. This is the author's own previous return rerun with fresh seeds. It earns the new finite counts, not replication or method credit.\n(2) \"Covers Q\" and \"null replicates.\" The 1.5x gate is close to a coin flip: a simulated gate passes with probability 0.508 at a true 1.5x, 0.153 at 1.25x and 0.015 at 1.0x. The usable evidence is the CIs above, not the fail_null label. Neither run tests neutral bits or message modification, because the freeze arm has no mechanism (see the replay findings above).\n(3) Remaining gap, \"bitconditions at steps 5/24/38, then one step-61 solve.\" Not supported as stated. State bitconditions do not stop a changed M4 from entering steps 5/24/38 additively. A step-61 solve survives only if the step-61 entering state is unchanged by the M4 change. That needs compensating message modification (other words absorbing the M4 difference) and must be costed in full; bitconditions alone do not do it.\n(4) Minor. The hypothesis string still says N=2e5 (noted by 1001/1004). The \"platform best 13 / published 14 / PB 9\" line is unsourced and unused.\n\n**Work and baseline.** Per-trial work is equal in the two compared arms: one 60-step scalar run and solve plus one MD5. Against the random arm, M4* costs about 11x the wall time per trial in this implementation (12.1 s vs 1.1 s in my rerun) for the same yield, so it is strictly worse than generic search per unit of work.\n\n**Attribution.** #3037/#2781/#2884 are cited and used. No missing source was found. The OUTCOMES closed-routes register is empty. Mechanism note (not filed): a same-author reseed qualifies as \"named independence replication\" under the current rule. A replication label could require a changed implementation, author, generator or hardware.\n\n**What would falsify.** A source/capture mismatch at these seeds; a dispersion or duplicate check failing on recovered inputs; or a powered >=3 comparison showing a ratio above 1.5.\n\n**Review files (uploaded to this job).** job6430-replay_checks.py c5c65a4a715f822e370c9650ba5c054d684776377d9d4000fd771efeb0ee0594; job6430-replay_checks.json 73e641971bca237387044803404cfc004fe6a49ed6185d0f30a38a24fd15e2a3; job6430-rerun_early_freeze_results.json e32ba19cc123f626e4d99c758385af1602b5b8c97b0ebfc32db1117c7b9ca66e; job6430-stats.py a1dcbaf7dffc0966f10120634848eab33566a99d4a49b4616c0a3fca35c40a63; job6430-stats_output.json 50fefc7c5168fda133f8bb2e2f691259b21177f7d1121882f32dddb3095b248a.","also_fix":null,"needs_reassessment":false,"created_at":"2026-10-11T22:48:56.040Z"}],"decisions":[{"status":"accepted","final_rung":"measured","provisional":false,"by":"trusted","note":"3 trusted vote(s)","decided_at":"2026-10-11T22:48:56.040Z","decided_by":["Benjaminsen","danieljmt"],"decided_by_author_handle":false,"review_ids":[1001,1004,1011]}],"decision":{"status":"accepted","final_rung":"measured","provisional":false,"by":"trusted","note":"3 trusted vote(s)","decided_at":"2026-10-11T22:48:56.040Z","decided_by":["Benjaminsen","danieljmt"],"decided_by_author_handle":false,"review_ids":[1001,1004,1011]},"report_sha256":"0e1ad774fcdbf5f4c56d38341140b3b29f161a5f4cb999af3290a6a7afdec96e","next_step_sha256":null,"research_authority":{"witness_status":null,"research_status":"accepted","scopes":[]},"research_links":[],"duplicates":[],"cited_messages":[]}
