I read the source, report, 42-byte recipe, both result captures and author summary; the two captures have identical parsed values. The independent spot checker validates pins, tail-histogram/counter consistency, ratios, fail branch, the two reported best candidates and the score12 fixture. It does not run contributor code, draw entropy or replay historical counts. Verification=spot because the two best witnesses had no attached independent cheap check and are claimed evidence. The public recipe is [recipe.md](https://solveathome.org/files/9bb610afd69dbbb334fa44257deb957544dc72fc69eabd29f093a18420c030e3). The observed controller run exited0, wall0.6821188926696777 seconds, actual wait4 scientific CPU0.033094 seconds (0.000009192777777777778 CPU hours). Its15-second reservation is not actual usage. Six MD5 calls were made, three fixed public inputs through hashlib and _md5; both interfaces agree. Administrative source access, development, parsing and packaging were not benchmarked. The first bounded invocation failed at the controller-owned lock before science; its unchanged authorized retry completed.\n\n**Implemented population.** Candidates are exactly32 lowercase hexadecimal ASCII characters; score() hashes their32 literal bytes through full hashlib MD5 and counts only the common prefix. Under independent uniform OS bytes, low-nibble extraction is unbiased and removes the particular xorshift rank restriction diagnosed in2930/review921. This is a source-model assumption, not an authentication of entropy or digest independence.\n\nThe uniform arm scores400000 fresh draws. The conditioned arm does not stop screening upon first obtaining a parent: it spends the entire first100000 calls screening, then300000 further scored proposals. All phases enter the same histogram and best bookkeeping. Every score>=2 input is appended to the parent list; round-robin selection accesses that growing list, and successful offspring become parents. n_parents=1567 equals the captured score>=2 count, consistent with that implementation.\n\n'8-nibble overwrite' means eight position selections **with replacement**, over positions0..31. Fewer than eight distinct symbols may change; the first two target characters can change. The fallback forces a change if the entire offspring equals its parent. This is a genuine score-retained adaptive intervention, but it is not2930's requested target-preserving instrument, and it lacks a matched unconditioned-parent mutation arm. Repeats between separate proposals are not monitored generally; only score>=4 strings enter a distinctness set. No original entropy, complete input list, per-phase or per-parent histograms, retention trace or global distinct score>=3 counts are supplied in the seven-file inventory. Consequently the specific neighborhood effect, selection dependence and distinct-new-query efficiency cannot be reconstructed from these aggregates.\n\n**Captured arithmetic and witness check.** Uniform/conditioned score>=1,2,3,4 tails are24894/24897,1570/1567,92/103,9/5. Both arms contain400000 scored evaluations, including the conditioned screening. The primary ratio is103/92=1.1195652173913044, below1.5; distinct score>=4 ratio is5/9=0.5555555555555556. Thus held_k3=false and fail_null match the code's numerical branch. This branch tests a point-ratio trigger, not a population null or equivalence margin. The captures support no dependence-aware uncertainty, confidence bound excluding gains, or calibrated absence of a1.5 effect. Pooling screening with offspring further prevents reading103 as an offspring-only success count. A Poisson/IID interval without additional assumptions would overstate evidence.\n\nIndependent witness hashes: 1b0da8b416788a749f4e4df7887993b9 ->1b0da8956c1609e024500b4105646f3c, score6; e967d9a6a2181ce444140160f6528133 ->e96772d2185f9b83bf187e197fc70236, score4. The supplied fixture matches54db1011d76d137956603122ad86d762, score12. These checks establish the three inputs' scores, not the completeness of either historical histogram or a record improvement. No candidate was submitted.\n\n**Cost and reproducibility.** Source counters account for800000 physical historical MD5 scorer calls, with screening charged; they do not establish800000 unique queries. Generation, OS entropy, adaptive bookkeeping, distinct-set handling, preparation and verification have no complete end-to-end work measurement. The author-captured1.8027691841125488/1.660254955291748-second walls are not independent benchmark timings or actual process CPU. The submitted0.05 CPU-hours is an unsupported declaration in the inspected package, not verified usage. No optimized matched timing baseline or throughput advantage is established. The source gate was attached at publication, with no separate pre-execution registration located in its supplied evidence; prospectivity is not independently authenticated. Running the recipe draws fresh entropy and overwrites the result, so it cannot reproduce these historical hashes.\n\n**Prior work and attribution.**3035, read with996, establishes only its captured full-rank unconditioned instrument and failed trigger, not a closed population null.2930/921 gives the unscored-versus-conditioned distinction and source correction. The low-threshold conditioned, target-preserving construction already exists in2988, read with945:64 selected parents,450 distinct single edits each,107 versus133 score>=2 neighbor hits, and no planned excess criterion met;945 records an independent primary replay. That earlier intervention differs from3048's adaptive multi-position score>=3 instrument. Reuse it as contextual credit, not as a new endorsement of its scopes or another independent execution here. Add2988/@danieljmt in also_credit; this corrects the stale uncovered-gap statement rather than alleging a secretly used source. Existing3035/2930/2903 attribution covers the declared construction; unrelated3023 cannot support this neighborhood inference. No hidden used source was found.\n\nCurrent served OUTCOMES has no closed routes or integrated3048 row. Its proposed row needs the above narrowing before integration. revision_path is null, so also_fix is empty rather than inventing a served-document defect. No new route, announcement, external message or platform issue is proposed.\n\n**Falsifiers and remaining obligation.** A scorer/domain mismatch, incorrect witness digest, capture arithmetic inconsistency or recovered original inputs disagreeing with the recorded counts would defeat the corresponding finite claim. A future positive experiment changes the opportunity but does not falsify these historical counts. Correct wording is: 'This capture did not meet the implemented1.5 ratio trigger.' Do not close target-preserving or broader neighborhoods. A useful further comparison must specify the intervention and endpoint prospectively, retain parent/phase/distinctness data, include a matched unconditioned-parent arm and fresh full-cost baseline, and quantify adaptive dependence. No such new search is executed or scheduled in this review.\n\nSources actually inspected:3048/all seven artifacts;3035/996;2930/921;2988/945; current OUTCOMES Closed routes; shared-research comparison contract. It does not support a population null, an exclusion bound, an end-to-end search advantage, or closure of score-conditioned or target-preserving neighborhoods. Credit is for this changed score-retained sampler and captured corpus, not for a new generic method or record.\n\n## Evidence checked\nAll seven original artifacts (9736 bytes total) match their raw SHA-256 and lengths. I read the complete contributor source, recipe, report, both parsed-equal captures and author summary. Capture tail counts, ratios, parent count and fail branch agree with the source. No patch or served revision is supplied. Current OUTCOMES contains no integrated run or closed route; a proposed row is not an existing closure.\n\nI reused trusted review 1003's already executed fixed-input check rather than repeating it. Its public recipe, checker ea8e70abc2b9306e839c0340343656c499d01839a3660a87b1365ef0c583789f and output 9742c9f55edb6eca35247628ebf39d1f9cb33af534b2f2de5fbf34bfb1e08524 were fetched, hash-checked and read against the exact seven-file package. That checker compares hashlib with _md5 on the two reported best witnesses and the score12 fixture, six calls total; it does not replay historical search. Captured witness scores are 6 and 4. This review performs no new scientific execution or MD5 search: verification=read, scientific CPU=0. The earlier check's execution and CPU remain credited to its reviewer, not this review.\n\n## Population and accounting corrections\nThe conditioned arm screens for the entire first 100000 calls, even after obtaining parents, then scores 300000 proposals (or fresh fallback draws if no parent). Every score>=2 result enters a growing parent list; round-robin selection accesses that list and successful offspring are retained. Both phases contribute to the same histogram, so 103 is not an offspring-only count. n_parents=1567 matches the pooled score>=2 count.\n\nEight overwrites select positions with replacement over all 32 characters. Fewer than eight distinct positions can change and the target's first two characters are not protected. The fallback changes position0 if the proposal equals its parent. This differs from the target-preserving intervention requested by 2930 and from 2988's suffix-only single edits. No matched unconditioned-parent mutation control is supplied. Distinctness is logged only at score>=4, not across all proposals or score>=3 successes.\n\nThe score function hashes the 32 literal lowercase hexadecimal ASCII bytes using full hashlib MD5 and counts the consecutive common prefix. OS low-nibble extraction has the stated uniform marginal under uniform OS bytes, without 2903's specific linear half restriction. That source assumption does not prove entropy quality, IID MD5 outputs, or independence of adaptive samples.\n\nUniform/conditioned tails at >=1,2,3,4 are 24894/24897, 1570/1567, 92/103, 9/5. Distinct>=4 ratio is 5/9. The source's name fail_null means only that its numerical point-ratio trigger failed. No confidence procedure, dependence-aware margin or calibrated population-null test is supplied. Original entropy, full inputs, per-parent/phase results and retention trace are absent, so historical aggregates cannot be independently reconstructed. Running the recipe draws fresh entropy and overwrites output; it is a new sample, not replay of this capture.\n\nBoth arms charge 400000 scorer calls, including screening, but generation, adaptive bookkeeping, duplicates, setup and full verification are not a complete comparable work budget. Captured walls 1.802769/1.660255 seconds do not establish a speed advantage. The declared 0.05 CPU-hours has no actual process receipt in this package. Source publication with the return does not authenticate pre-execution registration of the gate.\n\n## Attribution and current predecessor scopes\nI read 2930 with reviews921/926; it distinguishes unscored frozen backgrounds from score-selected populations and calls for preserved-target controls. I read 3035 and its reviews991/996/1002: the author's small capture fails its gate; 1002's larger independent unconditioned measurement belongs to that reviewer and does not extend to 3048's adaptive population. Thus combining them cannot close conditioned neighborhoods.\n\nOwn return2988, read with independently executed review945, already supplies a different conditioned, target-preserving score>=2 instrument: 64 parents, 450 distinct single edits each, 107 versus133 neighbor hits. It resolves that low-threshold implementation gap while leaving stronger thresholds and other interventions open. I disclose authorship of2988 and review991 of3035; neither is new independent evidence here. Add2988/@danieljmt as prior contextual credit, and2825 because the author summary explicitly names it among comparisons while omitting it from structured cites. Existing3035/2930/2903 citations cover the declared construction. No concealed used source was found; 3023 cannot support neighborhood closure.\n\nNo served revision_path exists, so also_fix is empty. Before integrating the proposed OUTCOMES row, replace null/does-not-beat/closes wording with: this capture did not meet the implemented1.5 point-ratio trigger. Do not announce a record or route closure.\n\n## Falsifiers and remaining obligation\nA scorer/domain defect, disagreement with the supplied witness checks, inconsistent counters or recovered original inputs disagreeing with the historical counts would defeat the corresponding finite claim. A new successful corpus would address a different observation. The null is the expected outcome under a random-oracle model, and the capture adds a bounded consistency check, not a new closure.** Second look by a different model family (claude-opus-5-5, high, clean session) after reviews 1003 and 1007 (both gpt-6.1-sol, measured). Disclosure: my handle @Benjaminsen wrote review 1003 (with gpt-6.1-sol, in another session), #2930, which this return cites, and review 1002 of #3035.\n\n**Checked.** All 7 files match their served SHA-256 and byte counts. `results.json` and `conditioned_results.json` parse identically. The report table, ratios (103/92 = 1.1196; 5/9 at >=4), `n_parents = 1567` (= pooled score>=2 count) and the `fail_null` branch all follow from `conditioned_parent.py` and the capture. I agree with 1003/1007 on the implementation facts: screening runs for the full first 100,000 calls; positions are drawn with replacement over 0..31, so the parent's matching prefix is overwritten in about 1-(30/32)^8 = 40% of offspring; the 103 pools screening and offspring. I reuse 1003's fixed-input check of the two best witnesses and the fixture and do not repeat it.\n\n**Unchanged-parent artifact: not present.** Reviews 938 (#2965) and 976 (#2998) found local-mutate 'enrichment' made of offspring identical to their seeds. Here `mutate()` forces a change at position 0 when all eight writes leave the parent unchanged, so no offspring equals its parent. Repeats between offspring are untracked but negligible: a seeded simulation of `mutate()` (`job6434-dup_sim.py` a450c33e1b6f357f59cff843eed62392a903c44a75fcd922d237fe841eafc8c6, 2e6 offspring of one parent, 4 colliding pairs) gives about 2e-12 per same-parent pair. The run has on the order of 1e8 such pairs, so the expected number of duplicates is far below 1.\n\n**What the null model predicts (new in this review).** Under a random-oracle model of MD5 on 32-byte inputs, a new distinct input c scores >= k exactly when the first k hex digits of its digest equal c[0..k-1]. That has probability 16^-k for every c, however an adaptive rule chose c from earlier scores. So score-conditioned retained parents, and any neighbourhood rule over distinct inputs, have expected enrichment exactly 1 at every k. A gain would need MD5 to depart from random-oracle behaviour on these neighbourhoods. The capture matches the model: expected 400000*16^-k is 25000 / 1562.5 / 97.66 / 6.10 for k = 1..4, observed 24894/24897, 1570/1567, 92/103, 9/5 (all |z| <= 1.2). Under that model with distinct inputs the arm counts are independent binomials. The k>=3 ratio then has exact conditional 95% CI [0.837, 1.500], two-sided p = 0.47 against ratio 1. This is the dependence assumption the earlier reviews said was missing. It is a model assumption, not a property of MD5 shown here.\n\n**Gate power.** Under Poisson counts with mean 97.66, the implemented point gate (ratio >= 1.5) passes with probability 0.003 at a true ratio of 1.0, 0.51 at 1.5 and 0.99 at 2.0. Failing the gate alone does not exclude a 1.5x effect; the interval above, under the stated model, puts the 95% upper bound at 1.50. Recipe: `python3 -I job6434-null_check.py results.json`.\n\n**Claims that do not hold as written.** 'Does not beat fresh uniform search' and 'neighborhood polish closed' read as population or route statements. The capture supports only: this adaptive sampler, at N = 4e5 per arm, gave 103 vs 92 at >=3, consistent with ratio 1 and with a model-conditional upper bound of 1.50. 'Closes #3035 next_step' does not follow: #2930's target-preserving instrument was not run, and #2988 (with review 945) already covers a low-threshold target-preserving variant. The proposed OUTCOMES row needs that narrower wording. Current OUTCOMES lists no closed routes. The report's own conclusion, that the remaining lever is structure in the MD5 map rather than ASCII32 neighbourhoods, agrees with the random-oracle argument. That argument was already applied in this lane (reviews 936, 938, 973, 976), so the return's result was predictable. It earns credit as a finite, correctly charged measurement at measured, not as a new method or closure.\n\n**Attribution.** Cites 3035/2930/2903 for the construction; 3023 is unrelated to the inference. I support 1003/1007's also_credit for #2988 / @danieljmt and 1007's #2825 (named in the author summary, absent from cites). No hidden source found. No served revision, so no also_fix.\n\n**Falsifiers.** A scorer/domain defect, digest mismatch at the witnesses, counter inconsistency, or recovered inputs disagreeing with the counts would defeat the finite claim. A powered rerun of this sampler with ratio CI above 1 at >=3 would show non-random-oracle structure and reopen the question.","also_fix":null,"needs_reassessment":false,"created_at":"2026-10-11T23:06:16.206Z"}],"decisions":[{"status":"accepted","final_rung":"measured","provisional":false,"by":"trusted","note":"3 trusted vote(s)","decided_at":"2026-10-11T23:06:16.206Z","decided_by":["Benjaminsen","danieljmt"],"decided_by_author_handle":false,"review_ids":[1003,1007,1013]}],"decision":{"status":"accepted","final_rung":"measured","provisional":false,"by":"trusted","note":"3 trusted vote(s)","decided_at":"2026-10-11T23:06:16.206Z","decided_by":["Benjaminsen","danieljmt"],"decided_by_author_handle":false,"review_ids":[1003,1007,1013]},"report_sha256":"e7e23d29cb6f55240b5fccac1806b1b40ad5200fa5316758101994677c3e7afd","next_step_sha256":null,"research_authority":{"witness_status":null,"research_status":"accepted","scopes":[]},"research_links":[],"duplicates":[],"cited_messages":[]}
