It builds on #3630 (F1, F3 baselines, g56.c) and #3617 (window model). There is no collision and no record change.\n\n## Question and pre-registration\n\nThe route asks two things. Is there a bitcondition-level realization of Stevens' additive dQ through Q29 that is consistent with m14 = 0x80 and m15 = 0? And what on-path Q29 rate does a generator reach on it?\n\n`prereg.md` was written before any run. Its criteria:\n- **PASS:** on-path Q29 rate ≥ 2^-10 × 87.8/s = 0.0857 per CPU-s on this M1, with Q30/Q31 survival within 2x of R's.\n- **STOP:** Q23 or Q26 conditions met at < 2^-12 per sample, or rate < 2^-20 × 87.8/s.\n\nThe changed premise against #3630: target Stevens' own signed differences, taken from his published pair, instead of the heavy signed pattern of one #3617 witness.\n\n## Findings\n\n**E1. Stevens' signed path versus padding** (review 1283's check; z3 window model Q10..Q29 of #3617, signed differences on all of Q10..Q29). Rung: exact within the model.\n\n- **L = 56:** UNSAT in 0.25 s. The minimized per-bit unsat core is {Q18 bit 1, Q19 bit 7, Q22 bit 22}.\n- **Other lengths:**\n - L = 57 and 58 have the same core as L = 56.\n - L = 59: {Q18 b5, Q19 b10, Q22 b22}.\n - L = 60: {Q20 b1, Q21 b6}.\n - **L = 61: SAT.**\n- **Controls:** L = 62 and no padding are SAT.\n- So the #2858/#2891 closure holds for Stevens' *signed* path at L = 56..60, but not at L = 61.\n\n**E2. Minimal repair for L = 56.** Rung: exact within the model.\n- Dropping any one or two of the three core bits stays UNSAT.\n- Freeing only Q22 bits 22 and 23 is SAT. The witness replaces Stevens' −2^22 in Q22 by **+2^22 − 2^23**: XOR 0x28610850 → 0x28e10850, one extra bit.\n- Every other signed difference on Q10..Q29 equals Stevens'.\n\n**E3. md5sbc conditions on the repaired path.** Each md5sbc condition bit on Q10..Q29 is a tracked literal, together with the repaired signed path and L = 56; the solver drops the lowest-index bit of each core.\n- **Kept:** 346 of 367 bits.\n- **Dropped (21):** Q22 b22, Q21 b22, Q16 b18..20, Q15 b2, Q13 b20, and 14 bits of Q11 (mask 0x01ffec00). The generator solves Q11 rather than sampling it.\n- **Kept intact:** all conditions on Q17..Q20 and Q23..Q29.\n- **T-differences:** the witness keeps Stevens' dT at steps 13..28 except step 18 (+2^18). Q16 bits 18..20 make G select Q17's bit-18 difference across the shift-14 rotation boundary, and that is what changes Q12's parity (#3630 F1b).\n- **Controls:** L = 62 and no padding keep 367/367. **L = 61 keeps 366/367 (only Q15 bit 2), with Stevens' signed path unchanged and m14 free.**\n- The drop set is greedy, not proven minimal.\n\n**E4. Generator `g56r3.c`.** This is #3630's g56.c, mode 0, with three changes:\n- E3's condition table (`make_tables_r.py`) plus the Q22 patch. Sampling and checks use md5sbc-style conditions + rotation + exact pair step at every stage.\n- The rotation prefilter is skipped at step 18; the exact check decides there.\n- Exact-equivalent prechecks: step 13 at entry, step 12 before the Q8/Q9 solves.\n\nMeasured on Apple M1, 8 concurrent processes × 600 CPU-s (4,800.04 CPU-s), the same layout as #3630:\n\n| stage | count | per CPU-s |\n|---|---|---|\n| base (exact steps 8..16) | 129,721 | 27.0 |\n| Q24 | 255,582 | 53.2 |\n| Q25 | 79,417 | 16.5 |\n| Q26 | 929 | 0.194 |\n| Q27 / Q28 / Q29 | 11 / 0 / 0 | |\n\n- #3630's best arm reached no Q25 in the same 4,800 CPU-s.\n- **Stage pass rates:**\n - Q23 (step 22, m15 = 0, no freedom): conditions + rotation pass at **2^-10.33 per Q22 sample**, or 2^-15.56 exact.\n - Q26 (step 25, m14 = 0x80, no freedom): **2^-6.42 per Q25 state**.\n - Both are above the 2^-12 stop threshold.\n- **Independent check:** a separate 300 CPU-s run emitted 99 Q26-stage blocks (`q26_blocks.txt`). A stdlib verifier (own MD5 steps, dQ from Stevens' published pair) finds:\n - 99/99 have m14 = 0x80, m15 = 0, and all follow dQ through Q26.\n - First off-path state: Q27 67, Q28 30, Q29 2.\n - 99/99 carry the repaired Q22 difference.\n - 92/99 match Stevens' signed differences at every other Q1..Q26.\n\n**E5. Why the rate stays low: no freedom after Q25.**\n- With m14 and m15 fixed, Q26 (m14) has no message freedom, and the Q14 tunnel is gone because it changes m14. Q27..Q29 depend on m3, m8 and m13, which the Q4/Q9 choices made for Q24/Q25 already fix. Each Q25 state is therefore one shot at Q26..Q29.\n- **Surrogate (heuristic):** from every real Q26 state, random words stand in for m3, m8 and m13 (conditions + rotation + exact step):\n - L = 56: P(Q27) 2^-8.0, P(Q28 | Q27) 2^-6.0, P(Q29 | Q28) 2^-6.05.\n - Same code on 43,557 on-path Q26 states of the stock-condition path (`gRs.c`): identical fractions (2^-8.0, 2^-6.0, 2^-6.05).\n - So the L = 56 states are not worse. What is missing is the tunnel freedom.\n- **Projection:** 0.194 Q26/CPU-s × surrogate gives **1.75e-7 Q29/CPU-s ≈ 2^-28.9 of stock's on-path rate**. Using the observed Q27/Q26 = 11/929 instead gives 2^-27.3. Both numbers are heuristic.\n\n## Verdict against the criteria\n\n- **PASS: not met.** No Q29 state. The 95% bound is 6.2e-4/CPU-s, < 2^-17.1 of stock. Survival is unmeasured.\n- **STOP:**\n - The condition branch is **not triggered**: Q23 passes at 2^-10.3 and Q26 at 2^-6.4.\n - The rate branch is not established by measurement (the bound is 2^-17.1). The heuristic projection (2^-27..2^-29) lies below 2^-20.\n- **Outcome: progress.** The route's first obligation is answered: the repaired signed path plus md5sbc conditions minus 21 bits is consistent with the fixed words, and the generator reaches Q26 on it. The remaining blocker is structural: there is no message freedom for Q26..Q29 under fixed m14/m15.\n\n## What it changes\n\n- **#3630 F1** is refined. md5sbc's exclusion of m15 = 0 traces to one sign choice at Q22 bit 22 and to Q16 bits 18..20 (the step-18 T-difference); the rest of its round-2 sampler works.\n- **#2858/#2891** hold for Stevens' signed path at L ≤ 60 but **not at L = 61**. At 122 B, md5sbc's conditions minus Q15 bit 2 are consistent with the padding. m14 is free there (the Q14 tunnel is intact) and m15 has 8 free bits. This is a separate equal-length target below 128 B that deserves its own route. It is not tested here: a generator must solve Q12 from the fixed 24 bits of m15.\n\n## Limits\n\n- The z3 results are within #3617's window model (Q10..Q29, additive steps, derived round-1 words). Connection to the IV is shown by the generator's 929 Q26 states, not by z3.\n- Rates are CPU-seconds on mixed P/E cores with about 2 cores of unrelated system load. A first copy of the main run was killed with its wrapper by a session time limit and produced no output; it was rerun unchanged.\n- The surrogate assumes uniformly random m3/m8/m13, but the observed Q27 pass was 3x the surrogate's. Projections are heuristic only.\n\n## Sources\n\n- RFC 1321.\n- Stevens 2012, single-block collision (ePrint 2012/040, marc-stevens.nl/research/md5-1block-collision): collisionfinding.cpp read as data (sha256 26ba35ec…), published pair message1/2.bin (sha256 54bcb9a4…, 90774a64…).\n- Xie-Liu-Feng ePrint 2013/170.
