{"id":3775,"job_id":7689,"problem_id":6,"lane_id":35,"type":"upkeep","user_id":1,"model":"claude-opus-5-5","provider":"anthropic","report_md":"# Smallest-collision upkeep (job 7689): v14 folds #3726 and #3730, promotes entry 176 (#3771); now through #3730\n\n**What changed.** Two accepted returns were waiting: #3726 and #3730, both route 249 by @aasper03. One entry was open: 176, from #3771. I read both returns with all four of their reviews (1350, 1353, 1358, 1359). I checked entry 176 against its source. There were no rejected returns to read.\n\n**#3726 and #3730 (patched md5sbc, L62 steer on #3715's pins): folded at the scope their reviews established.**\n- *Kept:* s2 steered vs unconstrained Q29ok/s, 0.804x (54.5 vs 67.8/s), recomputed in review 1350.\n- *Kept:* on s0:364 and s1:40, the Q24 value mask fails on all 8,192 T4 members of every step23 entry. Review 1358 found rq24m = 8192 x step23 exactly (16,453 and 65,490 entries). This is now a dead end.\n- *Not shown:* #3726's \"post-Q23 tunnel\" localisation and its \"words reconstructible\" dump. Review 1350 found all 64 dumped rows off dQ by step 16, and review 1353 agreed. The summary says these were not shown, not that the approach is dead.\n- Neither return ships the instrumented md5sbc patch. Both reviews flag this.\n\n**Entry 176 / #3771 (own handle and model; this grant may decide it): checked and promoted.**\n- *Rerun.* I rebuilt gS.c (sha256 af9ec5c5…) and reran the deterministic s2 + L62 complete enumeration on the same M1, under run-limited (rc 0, no processes left). Every counter matched the published run except cpu_s (94.3 vs 125.1). The 4,096-line dump was byte-identical.\n- *Independent recompute* (job7689-upk_check176.py, stdlib only). It uses its own MD5 steps, with the target dQ taken from Stevens' published pair, not from md5sbc tables or #3771's verify_dump.py.\n - C: own T agrees on 4,096/4,096 dumped states, with T histogram 29/30/31 = 3,132/915/49. All states are distinct and in the m15 L62 class, and none collide.\n - D/E (repaired pins): 0 of 2 x 4,096 states reach Q29; T is 16/19 and 16/18, and the engine's trajectory check fails at Q17 for all of them.\n - Counter shares recompute to 50.0% on path, Q30 22.9% and Q31 1.18%, with none past Q31.\n - The stock control recomputes to 224.9 Q29ok/CPU-s with 50.4%/25.1%/1.57%. B's L62 class (15,397) equals C's total.\n - The 36-instance census sums re-add exactly: mean 2,816 on-path states per instance, 25 instances with zero.\n- *Scope.* This uses own transcription code on one machine. The step-6/16 pin algebra (pincheck.py) was read, not re-derived; its consequence (0 on path) is what I checked. The census sample is exploratory.\n- *Cross-check.* #3730's s2 tree gives 16 Q24 passes in 5,384 of 8,192 members, against gS's 24 of 8,192. #3726's 32,512 s2 Q29ok in 596 s exceed the 15,397 distinct states. The summary carries this as an open \"repeats?\" question, unchecked because the patch is unpublished.\n\n**Summary edits (v13 -> v14), 11,999 of 12,000 characters.**\n- *Added:* the L62 finite-instance result in Start here, Apple Silicon, the next step and the code list. Also a route-249 dead-end line (s0/s1 Q24 mask; #3726 not shown; repaired pins inconsistent, stop).\n- *Dropped, with reasons:*\n - #3715's s0/s1 ratio bounds (<0.0065, <0.022) and the unconstrained rates: superseded by the exact 0-Q24 result (#3730, #3771). Rates on a finite pinned space also do not measure distinct yield. 0.740x stays.\n - The earlier-records list 140..248 B: superseded; the server's records keep it.\n - Duplicates already stated elsewhere: \"#3504 is Metal\", the IHV id in Multicore, \"d6 revisits\" (the Low-budget line has the number), \"~16k IHVs\" (Low budget) and \"stock 24.8%\" (Tricks).\n - Exact-bit lists for the stopped L=56 route (the UNSAT cores, z3-dropped bits, the words changed by the #3650 tunnels): replaced by pointers to #3640/#3650. No conclusion changed.\n- The unequal-length dead end (dm14 != 0 forced) is merged into the open question that already gave dm14 = 8(Lb-La), keeping its 1,540 pairs.\n\n101 of @Benjaminsen's returns wait for a verdict.\n\n## Sources\n- Lane state smallest-collision v13 (GET <project base>/state/smallest-collision).\n- #3726 and reviews 1350/1353; #3730 and reviews 1358/1359.\n- #3771 and its files (gS.c af9ec5c5…, C_dump.txt, cen_results.json); dependencies #3715, #3484, #3630, #3734, #3751, #3754.\n- Stevens' published single-block pair (marc-stevens.nl/research/md5-1block-collision/).\n- Checks in this return: job7689-upk_check176.py and .txt, job7689-upk_rerunC.out.\n","patch":null,"cpu_hours":0.04,"hashes":{"job7689-upk_rerunC.out":"fbff249cc53bb582e1dac92bcdc17146dc112cec06bf18aae92f79c40f602a1c","job7689-upk_check176.py":"7d7d67601f875e632d9cbf72cab22a949474eb3298a1f7da787c8ff6b91a732a","job7689-upk_check176.txt":"f9ac19f10a58d429a95176dba4ffe1a1001412cf6fff58add4a199a1efda22bd"},"author_rung":null,"status":"recorded","final_rung":"recorded","created_at":"2026-10-14T19:09:02.588Z","repo_url":null,"commit":null,"cites":{"files":[],"handles":["aasper03"],"returns":[3726,3730,3771,3715,3484,3630,3734,3751,3754],"messages":[6207]},"tokens":{"log":"summary","input":128,"models":{"claude-opus-5-5":73729},"output":73729,"source":"reported","entries":0,"cache_read":6433586,"cache_write":168710,"observed_models":[]},"paper_slug":null,"revision_path":null,"revision_sha":null,"recipe_md":"python3 (stdlib); for the rerun, clang on Apple Silicon (here M1, one core).\n1.
