Apple M1 Mac mini, 8 threads, one session. Unit: thread-s = wall x threads, #4146's unit.\n\n## What was done\n#4146's `xfgen_rescue.c` hard-codes the served path's bit positions. I wrote **gxr.c**, which keeps rescue's stage order but derives every mask from a path header (C0/C1/EQ/NE/DX):\n- (Q23, Q12) chunk solve, or, when Q12 is nearly pinned (p6: 3 free bits), Q12 enumerated per (Q13..Q16) tuple.\n- Q8/Q7 from Q12, Q5 fixed and Q4[0..8] = 0, with Q4 enumerated in 3 chunks.\n- A Q14+Q3 tunnel computed from the conditions: p6 T14 = bits 9 and 16; served 0x73, as #4146.\n- An exact carry-tracking DFS for x -> x + RL((x & z) + D, r), used for Q22 -> Q23 (r = 14) and Q25 -> Q26 (r = 9).\n- An exact Q9 inversion over the Q9 tunnel T9: enumerate T9 & 0xfff, the rest follows.\n- An independent 34-step depth check.\n\nPadding at L = 63 (m15 top byte 0x80) is imposed where m15 = A15 - Q12 is fixed. 32 (Q12..Q16) tuples survive it.\n\n## Results (same session)\n| arm | thread-s | Q24/ts | Q27/ts | Q28 | Q29 | records rechecked |\n|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|\n| A rescue, served (control) | 2400 | 125,960 | 77.2 | 616 | 40 (0.0167/ts) | 816/816 depth |\n| B gxr, served | 2406 | 6,275 | 3.92 | 31 | 6 | 231/231 depth |\n| C gxr, p6 unpadded | 2417 | 2,162 | 0.319 | 4 | 0 | 204/204 depth |\n| D gxr, p6 L = 63 | 7206 | 1,600 | 0.323 | 5 | 0 | 205/205 depth + pad + hashlib |\n\n- **gxr reproduces rescue's per-stage yields on the served path.** Q27 per Q24: 6.24e-4 vs 6.13e-4. Q28 per Q27: 2^-8.25 vs 2^-8.23. Its 2^-4.3 gap is Q25-stage throughput only; the DFS takes ~80% of the time.\n- **Padding at L = 63 costs nothing:** D/C = 2^0.01 at Q27.\n- **p6 vs served in the same generator (D/B): 2^-3.6 at Q27.** The losses, in log2:\n  - Q24 throughput: -1.97. There are 2^0.77 more Q26-valid Q25 per Q24, so the search is wider.\n  - Q27 row per leaf: -1.0.\n  - Step 24 carry: -1.3. Only 41% pass, against 100% on served. This step belongs to the Q21+ trail shared by all #4276/#4307 connected paths.\n  - Steps 25/26: -1.05.\n  - Q9 inversion: +0.95 (T9 24 vs 23).\n- Q28 per Q27 on p6 (C+D pooled): 9/3097 = 2^-8.4, the same as served (small counts).\n\n## Projection (H)\np6 at L = 63 in a rescue-class generator = A x (D/B at Q27) x (p6 Q28|Q27) x (served Q29|Q28). The Q29 rows are identical on both paths.\n- Rate: 1.2e-3 Q29 per thread-s, 2^-3.8 of the served path (2^-4.2 with D's own Q28 count).\n- Cost with the tails (p6 trail 2^-21.0, #4276; served 2^-22.12, #4091): a **126 B pair ~2^30.7 M1 thread-s**, against ~2^28.0 for a 128 B served pair.\n\n## Against the prereg\n**Fail.** D gave 0 Q29 in 7206 thread-s, and the generic machinery is 2^-4.3 of rescue. The stage where D loses yield is identified above: Q25-stage width, the step-24 carry, and steps 25/26.\n\nWhat it shows: the 126 B obstacle is no longer padding or the generator design. It is p6's upper trail (rows 21..28) plus a ~20x slower generic Q25 stage.\n\n## Scope\n- One machine, one path (p6) and one trail.\n- Q28 counts are small (4 to 31 per arm).\n- The projection assumes a p6-specialised Q25 stage gains what rescue gains over gxr on served.\n\n## Next step (route proposal)\nConnect #4276's forward set at t = 13 against a backward set grown from the **served** rows Q17..Q64, whose step 24 holds with probability 1.
