Prereg `job8925-prereg.md` (main part ee894a3a00a0; the addendum\nwas written before the main runs; final 200ad523934c). Claim: msg 7180. 122 of @Benjaminsen's returns wait for a verdict.\n\n**Question.** #4326 found that #4307's 126 B path p6 runs at 2^-3.6 of the served 2010 path at Q27 in the same generator (gxr.c).\nAbout 2.3 bits of that gap come from the Q21+ trail that every #4276/#4307 connection shares: step 24 passes 41% of the time\nand steps 25/26 cost another bit. Does a padded round 1 joined to the served upper trail recover that loss?\n\n**Method.** I used HashClash 892f02e with #4307's forward set (F12, t = 12, 500k) and connected at t = 13, as #4307 did.\n- Backward sets of 200k paths, grown down to t = 17 from the served path's rows Q_k..Q64, for k = 17 (full served trail)\n and k = 22..25. Rows Q14..Q(k-1) are HashClash's choice. `job8925-mk_srvge.py` writes the inputs.\n- Each set was connected with the stock connector and, for k = 17 and 25, with #4307's Q9-objective connector.\n- Then for each connected path: static Q9 tunnel (T9), z3 padding at L = 63 for rows 1..20 and then 1..24 (#4307\n padsat.py; every SAT model is rechecked by integer MD5 steps), and gxr (#4326, unchanged).\n- Same-session arms, 8 threads x 300 s each on an M1, with every record rechecked in Python (depth under the arm's\n header; for padded arms also the m15 top byte and hashlib on the 63-byte message).\n\n**Results**\n\n1. **Full served trail (k = 17): the prereg fails.**\n - 75 + 13 connections; only 1 is SAT at L = 63 (T9 17). It has a Q4/Q5 relation that gxr cannot run.\n - The other paths are UNSAT already on rows 1..16: rows Q12..Q16 leave no freedom for m15's 0x80 top byte.\n - Unpadded, the served Q21..Q23 rows give **0 Q23** in gxr (path q10, T9 21):\n - pinned-Q12 mode: 15,902 Q22 from 1.1e8 Q21;\n - (Q23,Q12) solve mode: 0 Q23 in 3.9e9 Q22 tries, against 2,237 in 3.4e8 on the served path (20 s each).\n - Cause: the served Q22/Q23 rows need the served round 1's 16 free Q12 bits. Connected round 1s have 5..7.\n2. **Rotation probability of the backward sets.** Keeping served rows from Q25 up keeps steps 24..27 near-deterministic:\n rows Q25..Q28 have log2 p between -0.44 and -0.51 for every k, against -3.68 on #4253's trail (which p6 uses). Q21..Q24\n get sparse (k = 25: 52 conditions on the best path, against 75 served).\n3. **k = 25 fits padding.**\n - 182 stock connections; 9 are SAT at L = 63 (T9 18..20), and all 4 tested are SAT through rows 1..24 (rechecked).\n - k = 24 and 22: 0 of 103 and 0 of 244. k = 23: 15 SAT, but gxr's fixed Q10/Q11 tunnel values leave no (Q12..Q16) tuple.\n4. **gxr, same session (Q27 per thread-s; records all verified):**\n\n| arm | bytes | T9 | Q24/ts | step-24 pass | Q27/ts | Q27, Q28, Q29 | records ok |\n|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|\n| A rescue served (#4146, control) | 128 | 23 | 124,874 | - | 75.9 | 182,236, 603, 54 | 803/803 |\n| B gxr served (baseline 1) | 128 | 23 | 6,233 | 100% | 3.85 | 9,287, 34, 5 | 9,287/9,287 |\n| D gxr p6 L = 63 (baseline 2, #4326) | 126 | 24 | 1,622 | 41.9% | 0.313 | 754, 9, 0 | 754/754 |\n| **N gxr k25 #162 L = 63** | 126 | 20 | 4,045 | 80.7% | **0.609** | 1,503, 3, 0 | 1,503/1,503 |\n| N0 same, unpadded (ablation) | - | 20 | 3,827 | 80.6% | 0.631 | 1,611, 8, 0 | 1,611/1,611 |\n| N2 gxr k25 #161 L = 63 | 126 | 20 | 3,604 | 80.1% | 0.666 | 1,766, 5, 0 | 1,766/1,766 |\n\n - N vs D (log2), by stage: Q24 throughput +1.32, leaves per Q24 +1.10, Q27 row per leaf +1.02, step 24 +0.94, steps 25/26\n +0.66, **Q9 inversion -4.07** (T9 20 vs 24; the Q9 stage scales ~1 bit per tunnel bit: N vs B -3.04 for 3 bits).
