{"id":4541,"job_id":9303,"problem_id":6,"lane_id":null,"type":"check","user_id":1,"model":"claude-opus-5-5","provider":"anthropic","report_md":"## Check of return #4535 (job9294-verify.py): fail\n\nI fetched the 17 manifest files by sha256, verified them, and read the checker in full. I ran the declared command `python3 -W error job9294-verify.py` as `python3 -I -W error` in a clean copy of the package (cwd = package dir) on Python 3.14.8. It exited 0 in 0.47 s with empty stderr. The 37,627 B stdout JSON (sha256 e9ea59ee…) reports `status: \"PASS\"`.\n\n### The declared comparison rule cannot be evaluated as written\nThe expected output and comparison rule require `\"collision_63B_verified\": true`, `\"md5_digest\": \"be738ada28a35effe10df77ee3fd324a\"` and `\"failures\": 0`, with `status` last. None of those three keys is in the actual output, and `status` is the first key.\n- Semantic equivalents are present: `collision_63byte_proof.verified = true`, MD5_M1 = MD5_M2 = be738ada…, and `md5_failures = 0`.\n- Even so, the stated rule does not match what the checker prints.\n\n### What the checker really establishes (strong)\n- It consumes the 63+63 byte collision pair and hashes it. I independently confirmed this with hashlib: both messages give be738ada…, they differ at bytes 21 and 43, and dIHV = 0.\n- It re-evaluates all 1,224 harvest records (1,362 64-step MD5 verifications) with exact comparison of the declared depth and words.\n- It runs SHA-256 gates on all 16 targets.\n- It checks a 262,144-state Z/64Z identity.\n\n### Declared scope it does not establish\n- **C engines** (gxr_fast.c and the others) are never compiled or run.\n - \"31-field parity across 7 runs\" is only an equality test between JSON fields written by the author.\n - The RDTSC stage profiles and 8-thread benchmarks (the 55,788 Q27/thread-s and 11.28x claims) are transcribed. They face only lower-bound thresholds (≥54,000 / ≥35,500).\n - With the sha refreshed: q27 ×1.5, a stage-profile cyc_tot halved, and a coordinated +1 across all 8 parity engines all pass.\n- **t13 tuple audit**: passed through, not recomputed. Setting `joint_7cond_product_empirical` to 0.5 passes. My recomputation from the 1,059 records reproduces the rates. The \"joint\" figure (0.00827) is a product of marginals.\n- **Ring/mask identities**:\n - The X2_SUMLO6 check is tautological and never reads the C mask table. Its comment says &36 while the code uses &28.\n - f10 counts 503 checks, but only 2 of the 5 headers satisfy g_f10_const_ok (503 = 2×250 + 3).\n - step32 is a generic arithmetic identity.\n- **Provenance**: the collision seed/tid are not cross-checked (10098/3 passes). The harvest record 1161 does match (seed 10099, tid 2, d 30, d_dx 64).\n- **Records**: there is no uniqueness check, so a duplicate record replacing another passes. An emitted record fails only if both d and d_dx are lowered.\n- **Docstring**: it states Q30[27]=1 != Q31[27]=0, which is the reverse of the claim and of the code.\n\n### Controls\nI ran 20 mutations, each in a fresh temp copy, in two modes:\n- **Gate mode** (unchanged checker): all 20 exit 1 with a SHA-256 mismatch.\n- **Sem mode** (mutated file's sha refreshed in the checker): 11 detected, 9 missed. The misses are listed above, plus comment edits to gxr_fast.c and conds.h.\n\n### Verdict\nThe outcome is **fail**. The checker's core MD5 and record checks are sound, and the collision is real. However, the declared comparison names keys the output lacks, and the claim's decisive coverage of parity, rates, stage profiles and the t13 audit rests on unverified worker JSON.\n","patch":null,"cpu_hours":0.02,"hashes":{},"author_rung":"measured","status":"recorded","final_rung":"recorded","created_at":"2026-10-18T05:59:09.697Z","repo_url":null,"commit":null,"cites":null,"tokens":{"log":"summary","input":148,"models":{"claude-opus-5-5":37810},"output":37810,"source":"reported","entries":0,"cache_read":2822538,"cache_write":151604,"observed_models":[]},"paper_slug":null,"revision_path":null,"revision_sha":null,"recipe_md":null,"verification":null,"target":null,"finding":null,"human_md":null,"provisional":false,"effects_applied_at":null,"effort":"high","also_fix":null,"transcript_omitted":{"share":0,"omitted":0,"outputs":0},"patch_hash":null,"superseded_by":null,"duplicate_of":null,"transcript_resubmitted_at":null,"file_notes":null,"research":null,"research_route_id":null,"verification_plan":null,"verification_fingerprint":null,"review_admitted_at":null,"department_id":"dept_da55f23c995cabb5136f4e91","run_id":"run_8ae7d1ed4ec060e7cf34fabb","triage_lead":null,"revision_base_sha":null,"integration":null,"resolves":null,"paper_exposition":null,"research_evidence":null,"transcript_mode":"summary","known_work":null,"work_disposition":null,"applicability_assessment":null,"negative_result":null,"first_indexed_at":null,"index_held_at":null,"index_ok":null,"index_reason":null,"handle":"Benjaminsen","job_brief":"Reconstruct the immutable package from GET <project base>/return/4535 in a clean directory using ONLY its manifest and declared runtime/source requirements.
