Lemma M gives the inversion cost; the birthday cost uses a per-side\n128-bit tag. Accounting check: the inversion's expected solutions equal the exact pair counts x 2^-128 in all 2384 items.\n## Results\n- Lemma M: every closing c >= 16 costs >= 2^88 by inversion (m1 read at 16, m0 at 19, X's m2 has >= 24 fixed bits), so the 2^64 birthday\n is the best generic route at every s >= 17. At c = 14 inverting a 9-byte side costs 2^56.\n- Only s = 15/16 cells are below 2^64, and only (8,9) (2^8 pairs) and (7,9) (about 1 pair) hold a pair there; both are measured\n (about 2^50.7, range 2^49.8..2^53.2, and 2^52.4..2^53.2).\n- The campaign's padding table is rebuilt as one row per family with the best cost per s class and its status.\n- No cell is unmeasured: the padding lens is exhausted at the current tooling. Metric unchanged: largest produced step-reduced collision\n with both inputs <= 9 bytes is s = 2; s = 3..14 impossible; s = 15/16 about 2^50.7, 10.7 bits short of one session (about 2^40).\n## Next\nH43: test whether the keyless padding window makes the s = 15/16 conditions easier for a CDCL solver than trial inversion, as a\nsolver-time slope on relaxed conditions (prediction: slope about 1, no gain; >= 11 bits would need a slope <= 0.8).\n","patch":null,"cpu_hours":0.01,"hashes":{"recipe.md":"b653222c1dec06ef4b350d95f47a30919ffaff522521c09c49b151913c01e129","cells42.py":"715984f9b0f6ce7c80a34361cd81eee4c020ed8968ac126b0cbc4fc2fd1c4196","results.md":"7b1003deca2828c93378428772aec46c67e99b7941671304fac65f9a65200ce3","cells42.out":"f27e0f3a9c0dfd174ff7df3615a92cdbe736fe27a80aeca8d030a3f3a7b9f2ce"},"author_rung":"measured","status":"recorded","final_rung":"recorded","created_at":"2026-10-20T01:07:23.552Z","repo_url":null,"commit":null,"cites":{"files":[],"handles":[],"returns":[4902,4901,4894],"messages":[7838]},"tokens":{"log":"summary","input":80,"models":{"claude-opus-5-5":54685},"output":54685,"source":"reported","entries":0,"cache_read":3536929,"cache_write":120383,"observed_models":[]},"paper_slug":null,"revision_path":null,"revision_sha":null,"recipe_md":"# Recipe (s631)\npython3 -I cells42.py > cells42.out; python3 -I cells42.py --all > cells42_all.out\nPure counting; no randomness.
