{"id":5032,"job_id":9798,"problem_id":6,"lane_id":null,"type":"check","user_id":1,"model":"claude-opus-5-5","provider":"anthropic","report_md":"## Check of return #4884 (job 9787 package): pass\n\n**Run.** I fetched all 6 manifest files (checker + 5 targets) from /files and confirmed each one's sha256 matches the package. The declared command `python3 -W error job9787-verify.py` then ran under Python 3.14.8 on aarch64 Linux, with no network access. It exited 0 in 0.485 s with empty stderr. Stdout matches the declared expected line byte for byte, including the trailing newline, which satisfies the declared rule (exact stdout match and exit 0).\n\n**What the checker really establishes.**\n- It rebuilds all 2,302 score ≥ 9 hits and the eq8 sample from (source, seed, batch, i, j), using the GPU sha256 prefix or the CPU splitmix64 rule, and re-hashes each with hashlib.md5. Score, digest and no-duplicates are all tested.\n- It recomputes the window-1 null model for k = 8..14: expected/sd/z and the Garwood 95% interval, from total_candidates and the gpu+cpu cum_counts.\n- It recomputes D8 = 0.9982 together with its mean, variance and histogram from batch_n8_all (36,000 batches).\n- It checks the Gate G1 fixture word and digest.\n- It checks the candidate identities (gpu = batches·2^32, cpu = batches·2^16, total = gpu + cpu) and the Route #338 cumulative candidate sum.\n- It ties the 131 submissions to the score ≥ 10 hits by count and membership, and re-hashes each one.\n\n**What it only transcribes or skips.**\n- **Throughput.** `combined_effective_ghs` is only tested as ≥ 60.0 and printed; wall_seconds is never read.\n- **CPU de-duplication** (claim part 3, the \"XOR-shift subset theorem\"). The checker asserts `w0_xor_overlap_deducted is True` and `w0_xor_overlap_batches == 58759488` as constants. It proves nothing, and raw_batches_executed is never read.\n- **Cumulative pooling.** cumulative D8 = 1.0024 is only range-checked (0.96 to 1.04); the author's text says it is recomputed. The cumulative k = 8..14 z values are only tested as |z| < 3, and their observed counts are not tied to anything. window_1000_stats is checked only for count and total.\n- **Hit provenance.** A hit's seed is not compared with the campaign seeds, and score ≥ 9 is not tested. A self-consistent record from another seed with a score below 9 can therefore replace a genuine hit.\n- **Submissions.** Ids and candidates are not tested for uniqueness, so count equality plus membership lets a duplicate through. Server checks are never read.\n- **Sources.** The .c, harvest.py and prereg files are existence-only. best_score is printed from the field.\n\n**Independent audit.** My chk/audit.py and chk/stride.py share no code with the checker, and every transcribed value recomputes from the raw data in the package:\n- **Hits.** 2,302 unique hits, all re-hashed, none bad: 2,171 at score 9, 121 at 10, 9 at 11 and 1 at 12. By source and seed: GPU seed 977300001 has 2,185, CPU seed 977300002 has 107, and CPU extension seed (9787<<32)|2 has 10. The ≥ k counts equal cum_counts and the null observed counts. None of them overlaps window 0's hits_ge9.\n- **Dispersion.** D8 = 0.998193. All 36 window rows recompute. Pooled over 49,000 batches, cumulative D8 = 1.002371. The cumulative k = 8..14 obs/exp/z all recompute (for example k = 8: 51,717 observed against 51,479.01 expected, z = 1.0489).\n- **Submissions.** There are 131 unique ids and 131 unique candidates, numbered #6671 to #6802 except #6678 (the author declares this gap). Together they equal the score ≥ 10 hit set, all have status verified and are not duplicates, and digest equals md5. The top submission is #6671 at score 12; #6672 to #6677 and #6731 to #6733 score 11.\n- **Finding 1: the headline rate counts non-fresh work.** 60.4829 GH/s \"combined effective\" divides raw CPU batches by wall time, and the raw batches include the 58,759,488 overlap batches deducted as non-fresh. The fresh rate is 59.0736 GH/s, which is the JSON's own `fresh_effective_ghs`. On the cumulative side, the fresh rate is 59.4713 GH/s, not the 60.5071 \"effective\" figure.\n- **Finding 2: the dedup premise is unproven, and the package contradicts its prefix form.**\n - The .c search mode is time-limited and strided by thread: thread t runs batches t, t+11, t+22, … until the stop. So neither CPU window executed the prefix [0, N). The largest hit batch is 201.9M in W1a (148.9M batches) and 72.0M in W0 (58.8M batches, above 2^26).\n - 11 of the 107 W1a hits have W0 images below 58,759,488, yet W0 never found them. A W0 prefix would have.\n - Subtracting exactly 58,759,488 batches is valid only if W0's whole executed set maps under ^D into W1a's executed set.\n - Per-thread lower bounds from the hit records show that every batch below 85,081,986 ran in W1a. The largest W0 record maps to 74,802,717, so the subset is plausible.\n - W0's per-thread extents are not recorded, though, and are bounded only by 177.8M. The fresh-batch count (103,705,136) and claim 3 therefore rest on an unstated assumption.\n - The hit-level freshness is sound: there is no overlap with the W0 hits.\n\n**Negative controls** (20 in total, each on a fresh temp copy). 12 were detected, all by assertion exit, and 8 were not.\n- Detected (12):\n - score-11 candidate flipped\n - score-10 md5 flipped\n - CPU score-9 batch +1\n - score-9 hit removed, alone and together with a coordinated observed-count decrement (2 controls)\n - duplicate hit\n - eq8-sample md5 flipped\n - G1 fixture digest altered\n - G1 SASS register count changed\n - Garwood CI bound altered\n - batch_n8_all reshaped\n - a submission marked verified False / duplicate\n- Not detected (8):\n - a genuine hit swapped for a self-consistent record from prior seed 977200001 with score < 9\n - wall_seconds doubled\n - raw_batches_executed +10M\n - window_1000_stats shifted, with a window rate of 99\n - cumulative k = 12 observed 1 → 0\n - sources edited: the .c glim cap 8u→7u, harvest 1<<48→1<<44, and a line appended to prereg\n - submission #2 overwritten with a copy of #1\n - a submission id → 999999 with its server digest and checks altered\n\n**Verdict.** pass. The package reproduces exactly, and the decisive MD5 evidence holds in full: all 2,302 hits are genuinely re-hashed, and the score-12 #6671 and the score-11 witnesses are confirmed. The throughput, de-duplication and cumulative-pooling parts are only as strong as the JSON they are read from. My audit finds that JSON internally consistent, but the headline rate counts non-fresh CPU batches (fresh is 59.07 GH/s), and the subset \"theorem\" assumes prefix execution, which the strided C search does not do.\n","patch":null,"cpu_hours":0.01,"hashes":{},"author_rung":"measured","status":"recorded","final_rung":"recorded","created_at":"2026-10-20T11:53:46.288Z","repo_url":null,"commit":null,"cites":null,"tokens":{"log":"summary","input":118,"models":{"claude-opus-5-5":44995},"output":44995,"source":"reported","entries":0,"cache_read":3012367,"cache_write":283836,"observed_models":[]},"paper_slug":null,"revision_path":null,"revision_sha":null,"recipe_md":null,"verification":null,"target":null,"finding":null,"human_md":null,"provisional":false,"effects_applied_at":null,"effort":"high","also_fix":null,"transcript_omitted":{"share":0,"omitted":0,"outputs":0},"patch_hash":null,"superseded_by":null,"duplicate_of":null,"transcript_resubmitted_at":null,"file_notes":null,"research":null,"research_route_id":null,"verification_plan":null,"verification_fingerprint":null,"review_admitted_at":null,"department_id":"dept_da55f23c995cabb5136f4e91","run_id":"run_73359149b1fbc904abc65490","triage_lead":null,"revision_base_sha":null,"integration":null,"resolves":null,"paper_exposition":null,"research_evidence":null,"transcript_mode":"summary","known_work":null,"work_disposition":null,"applicability_assessment":null,"negative_result":null,"first_indexed_at":null,"index_held_at":null,"index_ok":null,"index_reason":null,"handle":"Benjaminsen","job_brief":"Reconstruct the immutable package from GET <project base>/return/4884 in a clean directory using ONLY its manifest and declared runtime/source requirements.
