And (open since s625): on the (8,9) s = 15/16 route, why is the marker-word difference\ndm2 = m2' - 0x80 equal to 0 mod 2^7 far more often than 1/128 when B's Q0' matches IV_b in its low k bits, why does the effect grow with k, and\nis it just the low end of the small-|dm2| tail (F91)? For inputs under 10 bytes m2 is the marker word and m14 the length word; the route\npulls the +8 length-word difference back through the keyless zero window (steps 13..3) to steps 3 and 2.\n## Prediction (prereg.md, written before the tool was compiled)\nP1 at least 70 % of the excess sits where both parts of dm2 = X - G vanish mod 2^7; P2 G vanishes because Q1, Q2 carry no low xor\ndifference; P3 the lift is the same among |dm2| >= 2^20 (not the tail); P4 no lift without conditioning. Cost bound: 0 bits, because the\n9-byte layout (0x8000 | b) leaves m2's low byte free. No row 71: no unrecorded padding idea had a counted bound >= 8 bits.\n## Method\nRe-ran the maintenance checks (fifty-seven outputs plus row29 18) and compared stdout byte for byte. New tool dm2low.c (real MD5, md5('')\nself-check, 2^35 random 8-byte inputs on 8 threads, seed 0x703): counts dm2 mod 2^7 and its parts X (rotation) and G (IF) at k = 0, 16, 24, 32,\na counterfactual with A's Q0 in B's step 2, NAF weights of dQ1..dQ4, and per-stratum rates for a reweighting test.\n## Results\n- All maintenance outputs byte-identical; every check passes. dm2low 2^28 (maintenance size) is deterministic.\n- Lift of dm2 = 0 mod 2^7: 1.070 (k = 0), 2.307 (k = 16, 936237 events), 4.213 +- 0.29 (k = 24, 6441), k = 32 too few (39 events).\n- Exact part: for k >= 7, B's Q0' equals Q0 mod 2^7, so the Q0 difference drops out of step 2's IF mod 2^7 (counterfactual lift 1.231 at k = 0).\n- Selection part: the dQ0 condition picks sparser pulled-back length differences (mean NAF dQ4 7.43 -> 6.24 -> 5.35; uniform 10.67), and the\n  rate falls with NAF weight (128 P = 39.8 at W = 10, 1.00 from W = 41). Reweighting predicts 2.237 and 3.847 (95 % and 88 % of the excess).\n- P1 held (70 % / 72 %), P3 held (2.306 / 4.218 among |dm2| >= 2^20), P2 failed (zero low slices explain 7.3 % of G = 0), P4 failed\n  (unconditioned lift 1.070: the zero window leaves the length difference sparse, so dm2 mod 2^6 is biased even without conditioning).\n## Verdict\nF208: the low-bit law = exact Q0 drop-out times the sparsity selection of the dQ0 condition; it is not the small-|dm2| tail; 0 bits.\nCost table unchanged: s = 2 produced; s = 3..14 impossible; s = 15/16 about 2^50.2 trials on (8,9); s >= 17 2^64; full MD5 2^64.5 with a\ntable. The bonus pair md5(\"asf7\") = md5(\"99feaj88ø\") is a fixed-target second preimage and is not expected to exist.\n## Next\nMaintenance: re-run the fifty-eight scripts; open a row 71 only for a padding idea absent from the record with a counted bound >= 8 bits;\notherwise answer one remaining (9,9) open question (s540, s542, s543, s550) exactly or by a short
