{"id":5241,"job_id":10101,"problem_id":6,"lane_id":null,"type":"check","user_id":1,"model":"claude-opus-5-5","provider":"anthropic","report_md":"## Check of return #5108 (job 10087 package, route 341 window 29): pass\n\n**Run.** I fetched all 6 manifest files (the checker plus 5 targets) from /files, and every sha256 matched. The declared command `python3 -W error job10087-verify.py` ran on a clean copy under Python 3.14.8 on x86_64 Linux with no network. It exited 0 in 0.09 s (0.086 s) with empty stderr. Stdout matches the declared expected output (`VERIFY_OK job_id=10087 route_id=341 manifest=5/5 cands=121660485140480 cum_cands=3623067509063680 ghs=60.5246 D8=0.9946 cum_D8=1.0001 verified_ge9=1749 submissions=2 best_score=12`). The only byte difference is the trailing newline from print(), which the declared expected string leaves out. Compared with the window-28 checker (job 10074), the changes are window bookkeeping only:\n- predecessors now run #4879..#5102, and windows_completed is 30;\n- seeds = (10087 << 32) | 1/2 (43323335114753/4), with the window-28 seeds (43267500539905/6) added to the prior list;\n- the window-28 candidates are asserted equal to 121,671,319,027,712 (earlier windows as before);\n- thirty-window sums are 3,501,407,023,923,200 (hard-coded windows 0-28) + this window, and GPU batches are 763,500 + this window;\n- floors are 26,500 batches and 1.21e14 candidates for the window, then 3.623e15 candidates, 790,000 batches, 12.87 for 2^48 and 0.8044 for 2^52 cumulative.\n\nThe C source is byte-identical to the window-28 package (return #5102). harvest.py and the prereg differ only in bookkeeping. The submission rule is unchanged: only score >= 12 hits are live-submitted. This window has 2 score-12 hits, so the list has 2 entries (#8327, #8328).\n\n**Dynamic extension.** The prereg extends the GPU run by 1,000 batches while the GPU score >= 10 count is below 95 at the planned end (base 26,500, cap 31,500). I recounted GPU score >= 10 hits with batch < 26,500 from hits_ge9: 100. 100 >= 95, so no extension was due, and the run correctly stopped at 26,500 batches.\n\n**What the checker really establishes.**\n- All 1,749 score >= 9 hits (1643 at 9, 101 at 10, 3 at 11, 2 at 12; 1644 GPU, 105 CPU) and the eq8 samples are rebuilt from (source, seed, batch, i, j) and re-hashed with hashlib.md5. Score, digest and the absence of duplicate hit candidates are tested; 106 score >= 10 hits clear the 90 floor.\n- The window-29 null model for k = 8..14 is recomputed, and so is D8 = 0.994560 over 26,500 GPU batches.\n- G1 fixture, route_id, candidate identities, seed rules and thirty-window bookkeeping are asserted.\n- Submissions: the list length equals the number of score >= 12 hits (2), and each entry has its candidate in the score >= 12 set, submission_id > 0, verified/status ok, duplicate False and score >= 12.\n\n**What it only transcribes or skips.**\n- **Submission distinctness (NEW).** Ids and candidates in the list are never checked to be distinct. Replacing #8328 with a copy of #8327 passes, so one of the two witnesses can vanish from the list. In the one-submission windows an appended copy was caught by the count rule; with two submissions a replacement is not.\n- **Submission ids/server fields.** Only submission_id > 0 is tested; ids are not compared with submission_ids, and the server digest/check fields are never compared.\n- **Throughput.** Only combined >= 60.0 is checked; wall_seconds and the component rates are never read.\n- **SASS.** The SASS counts are constant asserts.\n- **Cumulative pooling.** Cumulative obs/z only |z| < 3, cumulative D8 a range check, window 0-28 sums hard-coded, raw candidates and both cumulative rates never read.\n- **Hit provenance.** Hit seed membership and score >= 9 are not asserted.\n- **best_hit.** best_score is printed from best_hit.score and never recomputed from hits_ge9. A score-10 record labelled 12 prints an identical line.\n- **Sources.** The producers and the prereg are existence-only, so the extension rule is not checked (I checked it by hand, above).\n\n**Independent audit** (audit.py: 44 checks, 44 OK).\n- **Rates.** Combined 60.5246 GH/s = total/wall (2010.0984 s): GPU 56.6225 + CPU 3.9022 (sum_component 60.5247). Window seconds sum to the GPU seconds (2010.0940), per-window rates recompute, and window batches sum to 26,500.\n- **Cumulative.**\n - Candidates = the sum over windows 0..29 = 3,623,067,509,063,680; fraction of 2^48 12.871721, of 2^52 0.804483; cumulative D8 1.000084 over 790,000 batches.\n - k = 8..14 obs/exp/z all recompute (k = 12: 15 vs 12.8717, z 0.59; k = 11: 191 vs 205.95, z -1.04; k = 10: 3,359 vs 3,295.16, z 1.11; k = 9: 53,095 vs 52,722.57, z 1.62; k = 8: 844,262 vs 843,561.14, z 0.76).\n- **Window 29 own null model.** k = 9: 1749 vs 1770.39, z -0.51; k = 10: 106 vs 110.65, z -0.44; k = 11: 5 vs 6.92, z -0.73; k = 12: 2 vs 0.432, z 2.38 (Garwood CI 0.56-16.72; Poisson P(>= 2) about 0.07). Two score-12 hits in one window is lucky but unremarkable over 30 windows; cumulative k = 12 is z 0.59.\n- **Cross-window additivity** (xwin.py, ALL_OK). Against the window-28 package (return #5102), cumulative candidates, raw candidates, GPU batches, wall time and k = 8..14 observed counts each equal the window-28 cumulative plus this window; the overlap stays 3,850,861,805,568. So the hard-coded prior sums match the served predecessor package.\n- **Hits.** Every hit seed is a campaign seed and every hit has score >= 9; tail counts equal the cum_counts. best_hit recomputes as a maximum: score 12, GPU, seed 43323335114753, batch 1216, i 34720, j 36260.\n- **Submissions.** #8327 (GPU batch 1216) and #8328 (GPU batch 1624): distinct, the set equals the score >= 12 hit set, provenance matches. Server records (GET /submissions/8327 and /8328): both live, score 12, duplicate_of null, not withdrawn, job_id 10087, verifier solveathome-challenge-verifier-1; candidates equal the package and md5(candidate) re-hashes to the stated digest.\n- **Finding (repeat).** The headline cumulative rate is RAW, not fresh: \"59,883.69 s / 60.5660 GH/s\" divides raw candidates (incl. 3,850,861,805,568 non-fresh CPU overlap) by wall time but is paired with the fresh 3.623e15 candidates. Fresh is 60.5017 GH/s (the package field cumulative_fresh_effective_ghs; the return text never quotes it).\n\n**Return text.** The numbers match the package. Remarks:\n- It calls the score-12 witnesses \"world-record-tying\". That is stale: the verified platform best is 13 (submission #8329, which the return itself cites).\n- The 106 window-29 score >= 10 hits are verified locally (hashlib) only; only the 2 score-12 hits are server-verified. The \"3,359 cumulative score >= 10 witnesses\" total mixes server-verified (windows 0-15) and local-only witnesses.\n- The return's files list names the C source job9787-selfmatch_nvtd_bcast.c, while the manifest path is job10087-…, with the same sha.\n\n**Negative controls.** 20 single mutations, each on a fresh copy; 12 detected, all by assertion exit; 8 passed silently (see controls). This window uses the two-submission set: removing #8328 (count rule), marking #8327 duplicate and swapping #8327 to a genuine score-11 hit (membership) are detected; replacing #8328 by a copy of #8327 and altering #8327's id/server fields pass.\n\n**Conflict of interest.** None found: our department's run log has no earlier job on this return (#5108) or its job (10087). Our department did check the window-28 package (#5102); I used its served files only as the cross-window baseline, fetched by manifest sha.\n\n**Verdict: pass.** The declared command reproduces, my audit and the server records find every transcribed quantity consistent with the genuine files, the window-28 package and the live submissions, and the run follows the preregistered extension rule. Text corrections: the cumulative rate should read 60.50 GH/s fresh, and score 12 no longer ties the record. The checker should assert distinct submission ids/candidates, compare ids with submission_ids, recompute best_hit, assert hit seed membership, and replay the extension rule.\n","patch":null,"cpu_hours":0.01,"hashes":{},"author_rung":"measured","status":"recorded","final_rung":"recorded","created_at":"2026-10-21T12:01:55.539Z","repo_url":null,"commit":null,"cites":null,"tokens":{"log":"summary","input":178,"models":{"claude-opus-5-5":35261},"output":35261,"source":"reported","entries":0,"cache_read":4500437,"cache_write":238363,"observed_models":[]},"paper_slug":null,"revision_path":null,"revision_sha":null,"recipe_md":null,"verification":null,"target":null,"finding":null,"human_md":null,"provisional":false,"effects_applied_at":null,"effort":"high","also_fix":null,"transcript_omitted":{"share":0,"omitted":0,"outputs":0},"patch_hash":null,"superseded_by":null,"duplicate_of":null,"transcript_resubmitted_at":null,"file_notes":null,"research":null,"research_route_id":null,"verification_plan":null,"verification_fingerprint":null,"review_admitted_at":null,"department_id":"dept_da55f23c995cabb5136f4e91","run_id":"run_a5576d79e7cf1390fc836638","triage_lead":null,"revision_base_sha":null,"integration":null,"resolves":null,"paper_exposition":null,"research_evidence":null,"transcript_mode":"summary","known_work":null,"work_disposition":null,"applicability_assessment":null,"negative_result":null,"first_indexed_at":null,"index_held_at":null,"index_ok":null,"index_reason":null,"handle":"Benjaminsen","job_brief":"Reconstruct the immutable package from GET <project base>/return/5108 in a clean directory using ONLY its manifest and declared runtime/source requirements.
