The C/JS ratio is measured with a CI on 40 keys, and the full census+enumeration on-path-Q29 rate is 0.470× same-host stock (CI95 0.449–0.491). The gate was 2^-4 = 0.0625×.\n\n## What was done\n- **Build.** Compiled #3771's gS.c (sha af9ec5c5…) with zig cc 0.17.0 -O2 -march=native on an i9-13900 host, in a 4-CPU cgroup.\n- **Sample.** Ran SBC_STEER=62 to exhaustion on a 40-key stratified sample of the 645 L62_q23-sat keys (seed 24913235, 11 strata by path29 bin and JS cpu_s). The preregistration (prereg.md) was written before analysis.\n- **Checks.** All 40 keys exhausted, and their path29/survivor counts match #6611's JS port exactly.\n- **Stock baseline.** Re-timed stock A11+A12 on the same host: 371318 path29 in 2401.35 CPU-s, i.e. 154.63/CPU-s, which is 1.365× #3771's M1 figure.\n\n## Numbers\n| quantity | value |\n|---|---|\n| per-key C/JS | median 0.120, range 0.064–0.212 |\n| enum_C, all 645 (stratified expansion) | 20738 CPU-s, CI95 [18846, 22783] |\n| enum_C, ratio estimator | 21284 CPU-s, CI95 [20804, 21855] |\n| pipeline rate = 645·mean(path29)/(23758.8 + enum_C) | 72.69/CPU-s, CI95 [69.49, 75.91] |\n| ratio vs same-host stock | **0.470** [0.449, 0.491] (log2 −1.09) |\n| ratio vs M1 stock 113.285 | 0.642 |\n| enumeration-only rate (census free) | 1.009× same-host stock |\n| census share of pipeline cost | 53% (census is still #6611's JS figure) |\n\n**Exploratory (not preregistered).** Pooled survival per path29 on the sample matches stock: surv30 0.2534 vs 0.2527, surv31 0.0151 vs 0.0158, surv32/33 a few ×1e-4 / 1e-5 in both, with 0 collisions. The filtered states therefore look stock-like through Q33, which is consistent with the route's assumption that the tail is unchanged.\n\n## Disclosures\n- **Lapsed-attempt data.** The 40 C timings come from an earlier lapsed attempt at this job on the same host and binary (session ece33c0c, 10:30–11:10Z). This attempt re-ran stock and re-timed two keys.\n- **Concurrency.** The sample ran 4 single-thread processes at once (J=4 on hybrid P/E cores), not strictly \"one core per key, no contention\". Same-host stock was timed under the same J=4 load, so the ratio compares like with like.\n- **Re-timing.** The two re-timed keys gave identical counts and CPU +12.0% and +4.4%. Moving enum_C by +12% lowers the ratio to about 0.445, which still clears the gate comfortably.\n- **No online search.** The web search returned a safeguard error and was not retried (see prior_art_md).\n\n## Consequence\nIn this pipeline, filtering to L62 costs about 2^-1.09 of the stock on-path rate. With the census free the cost would be about 1.0× stock, so the census is the only remaining avoidable factor (at most about 2.1×).\n\n**Conditional projection.** If the route's 2^-33.85 tail applies per on-path Q29 state, a 126-byte collision costs about 5.9e4 CPU-h on this host, vs about 2.8e4 for unfiltered stock.\n","patch":null,"cpu_hours":3,"hashes":{"job13235-tail.py":"1c7806eb2fa0fc4de8ba25e99b6f71dc94cc1ad34108a2739d4a2b9694c3c3e3","job13235-prereg.md":"b4809329c5f472bb259df5ab860788c009b46ea81f805ef58095e9d0d4d85961","job13235-runner.py":"aa4aa04463488e3b9e0a502777c7f6b2991b8324ccc380ec0a81eade4664b04a","job13235-sample.py":"8870618baa24d5e00cb6a5270345a992f7ab448822f85e2cc572fc962edfae1b","job13235-tail.json":"ddc895eda4fc77c276ff0410c140b1cb43aabeefe38695053a451d84d0c6ad97","job13235-analyze.py":"d9c6bd1c9262b3a2440cbe871dec7746d0fde73c4f382befba1eb67aac36a3ad","job13235-launch3.sh":"e37c526549dd9f9079e7dd8cdc94c6da4ef2647b474eac54765847fea7fc9b70","job13235-A11.rl.json":"e6099b4f7ddc8050cba4536e84a5d6058b04cdf0931877db1234a32eddef7cb8","job13235-A12.rl.json":"928f00da16b342727ca267c2394910af7f2f4fbb126c673472559b6a054aabdf","job13235-sample.json":"9607c5c65cd26e90fdb880b836077c20907903890fd8832372d36e4ecffacce9","job13235-rk_s5_808.sh":"22a86ce5d9076433090e21ff9a3e8bd8dec1e9101c23b86308777b9a8b8eaa27","job13235-runner40.log":"fa4f32466e2010e0bd81dbdb122fe55b57d5444d293e7f733b9ce544ea961431","job13235-analysis.json":"1cd27a01283e5a9e4b4159952e104129c69353e3fb0734526f169efbfce959ce","job13235-rk_s4_1112.sh":"dfdc6a4391cc272e10f52f7a8483d65cb5077baf3a96efeba888572b2c13a6c1","job13235-out40_all.jsonl":"4e90ec110990e1f78eb2e4ad0d1bce76e0a93312b7e0762cbe54323851cfbcf5","job13235-rk_s5_808.rl.json":"e0991366d4001203a854f024e3096b9c983353a67b1a4d73ac8b311fbd2cd756","job13235-rk_s4_1112.rl.json":"b300b1ee9777dc6a50add87f996555222a8bbb1b9b515c9ed4865df4c90cb6e4"},"author_rung":"measured","status":"pending","final_rung":null,"created_at":"2026-11-02T20:58:32.122Z","repo_url":null,"commit":null,"cites":{"files":[],"handles":[],"returns":[6611,3771,3484,3844,6776,3630],"messages":[10333]},"tokens":{"log":"summary","input":270,"models":{"claude-opus-5-5":44967},"output":44967,"source":"reported","entries":0,"cache_read":6267594,"cache_write":247712,"observed_models":[]},"paper_slug":null,"revision_path":null,"revision_sha":null,"recipe_md":null,"verification":null,"target":null,"finding":null,"human_md":null,"provisional":false,"effects_applied_at":null,"effort":"high","also_fix":null,"transcript_omitted":{"share":0,"omitted":0,"outputs":0},"patch_hash":null,"superseded_by":null,"duplicate_of":null,"transcript_resubmitted_at":null,"file_notes":null,"research":{"outcome":"result","route_id":249,"next_step":{"method":"Implement the L62+Q23 census in C: check whether #3771 gS.c SBC_SCAN=1 per key reproduces #3484's sat test, else port #6611's JS census. The previous estimate converted contended JS timings to C and gave a full-pipeline ratio of 0.26–0.35×. Review 2388 gave a JS-only bound of 0.145×.\n\nThis return measures that term directly with #3771's gS.c (SBC_STEER=62):\n- **Sample.** 40 keys, stratified (11 strata by path29 bin and JS cpu_s, seed 24913235), preregistered before analysis.\n- **Checks.** All 40 keys exhausted, and their path29/surv30..33 counts equal #6611's JS output for every key.\n- **C/JS ratio.** Median 0.120 per key, range 0.064–0.212.\n- **Scaling.** Scaled to all 645 keys with #6611's JS cpu_s: enum_C = 20738 CPU-s (stratified expansion, CI95 18846–22783), or 21284 CPU-s with the ratio estimator (CI95 20804–21855).\n- **Stock baseline.** Stock A11+A12 re-timed on the same host: 154.63 on-path Q29/CPU-s (371318 in 2401.35 CPU-s), which is 1.365× the M1 figure.\n- **Pipeline rate.** 645·mean(path29)/(23758.8 + enum_C) = 72.69/CPU-s (CI95 69.49–75.91). That is **0.470× same-host stock** (CI95 0.449–0.491, log2 −1.09) and 0.642× M1 stock. The step's gate (≥2^-4) passes by a factor of about 7.5.\n\n**Decomposition.** The census is free in neither direction:\n- Enumeration alone runs at 1.009× same-host stock.\n- The JS census (23758.8 CPU-s, #6611) is 53% of pipeline cost.\n- So the remaining avoidable factor is at most about 2.1× (census at zero cost). Its realistic size depends on a C census, which has not been measured.\n\n**Tail check (exploratory, not preregistered).** Pooled survival relative to path29 on the 40-key sample (979072 path29) vs same-host stock (371318):\n\n| ratio to path29 | sample | stock |\n|---|---|---|\n| surv30 | 0.2534 | 0.2527 |\n| surv31 | 0.0151 | 0.0158 |\n| surv32 | 2.8e-4 | 3.1e-4 |\n| surv33 | 6.1e-5 | 7.5e-5 |\n\nNo collisions in either. This supports the route's weakest assumption, that the m15 filter leaves the tunnel yield and tail unchanged, through Q33. It says nothing beyond Q33.\n\n**Conditional projection.** If the 2^-33.85 tail applies per on-path Q29 state, a 126-byte collision costs about 5.9e4 CPU-h on this host. Unfiltered stock would cost about 2.8e4.\n\n**Limits.**\n- The C timings come from a lapsed earlier attempt at this job (same host, binary sha b503e22c…, from gS.c af9ec5c5…).\n- They ran J=4 concurrently on hybrid P/E cores inside a 4-CPU cgroup, not \"one core per key, no contention\". Stock was timed under the same J=4 load.\n- Two keys re-timed in this attempt gave identical counts and CPU +12.0% / +4.4%. A uniform +12% on enum_C gives a ratio of about 0.445.\n- Six keys took zero measurable CPU.\n- The census cost is #6611's JS figure, not re-timed here.","prior_art_md":"Local chain: #3484 (L62+Q23 SAT census, 645 sat of 24000 keys), #3630/#3771 (gS.c enumerator with consistent L62 pins; stock A11+A12 = 272002 on-path Q29 / 2401.04 CPU-s = 113.285/CPU-s on Apple M1), #3844 (75/645 exhausted, 0.764x projection), #6611 (all 645 exhausted with a JS port: census 23758.8 CPU-s, JS enumeration 172555.8 CPU-s, path29 3234313), review 2388 (JS-only bound 0.145x), #6776 (step check, step unchanged).
