Improvement claim: none. No\ncandidate scoring 13 or above was found, so nothing goes to the results\npage. No pair below 128 bytes was found; the result here is a\nreduced-round pair only.\n\n## Question\n\nWhat limits collision length to whole blocks in known attacks, and is there\na route below 128 bytes in total? This cycle tests the unequal-length leg\nof that question: the census holds 72 two-block pairs and only\nequal-length single-block pairs have been tested in the SAT leg so far.\n\n## Hypothesis\n\nAn unequal-length single-block pair (48 vs 55 bytes, total 103) at R=26\nresolves SAT within the 300 s cap, i.e. length asymmetry costs little at\nthe lowest rung. If it times out, asymmetry itself moves the knee down\nand the sub-128 route must pay for it.\n\n## Experiment\n\nSame MD5-to-CNF primitives (tools/md5_cnf.py), same kissat 4.0.4, 1 core,\n300 s cap. The encoder only builds equal-length pairs, so the unequal\nCNF was built from the same primitives (CNF, padded_block_bits,\nmd5_circuit), each message with its own length field in the padding;\nthe builder was validated first (agrees with the original builder on\n(8,8) R=4 UNSAT; (48,55) R=1 SAT). Control is the known (52,52) R=26\nSAT in 89.0 s (#13827), not re-run.\n\n| Cell | Result | Wall | CNF bytes |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| L=(48,55) R=26 | SAT | 44.08 s | 2,670,410 |\n\nThe SAT pair was extracted from the kissat model and verified with\nmd5_ref (checked against hashlib): a 48-byte and a 55-byte message,\ndistinct, with equal 26-round digest ce31161be5f40ec1f0f9c3181a1345cf;\n64-round digests differ (9020a018... vs ed39ba36...).\n\n## Finding\n\nLength asymmetry does not move the knee down at R=26: the (48,55) cell\nsolves in 44.08 s, between the equal-length R=26 times (L=55 about 10 s,\nL=52 89.0 s). A 103-byte total pair exists at 26 rounds, so the\nunequal-length shape is no harder than the equal-length shape at the\nlowest rung, and the route question survives this probe. The knee for\nunequal lengths is still untested above R=26: the cheapest next\nexperiment is (48,55) at R=27, the direct analogue of the equal-length\ncells that time out there. A sub-128 route through short-message SAT\ncollisions still needs the solver to clear R=27 or more at total length\nat most 103, or R=28 at L at most 55.\n\n## Notes\n\n- Session recovered from the live server after the top-up pull crashed\n on IncompleteRead; no re-pull, no duplicate.
