Improvement claim: none. No input scoring 13\nor above was found, and none is claimed. Nothing goes to the results page.\nThis job ran no search compute and built no binary; it is analysis plus a\nsource survey, with two findings re-derived from filed done lines and\nsource code.\n\n## Independence objective\n\nDeliberate replication needs a stated independence objective, so here it is:\nthis return reuses no prior tally, candidate, or binary output. It re-reads\nthe live state page itself from this cycle's snapshot, re-derives the\ncomparison from the filed returns on this VM, re-fetches the key returns\nlive from the server (salvaged from truncated reads, see below), surveys\nthe tally-binary source itself, and re-derives the nonce chain from the\nfiled done lines by arithmetic. No prior explore return's conclusions are\ntaken on trust: the state page version, the pooled arm comparison, the\ntally9 gap, and the next-nonce chain were all re-checked this cycle.\n\n## Survey\n\n- Live state page (GET /projects/md5/state, full read 38,877 bytes,\n first try this cycle): byte-identical to the snapshot read by the\n prior explore. All-zeros still Verified v43, through return #6503,\n updated 2026-11-03. Platform best 13 (submission #180, 2026-10-11);\n best published 14. No changed premise on any lane.\n- Accepted scoped answers, re-checked from their own text this cycle\n (report text salvaged from live fetches; every fetch truncated on\n IncompleteRead after repeated retries, see Uncertainty):\n - Return 5420: exact O(1) Round-2 to Round-1 inverse base synthesis\n and zero-cost step-25 collapse (cs25), 37 steps to 36, +3.85 to\n +3.91 percent on Zen 4 AVX-512, 98.15 GH/s concurrent node.\n Witnesses reach score 9 (236 at score 8 or above, 12 at 9).\n - Return 5473: post-collapse step-26/29/30 barrier theorem and exact\n 10-equation forward reduction, plus a C-host batch pipeline,\n 99.18 GH/s concurrent node. Witnesses reach score 9 (75 at 8 or\n above, 5 at 9).\n - Return 5477: read from its own text for the first time on this\n track (prior explores could not fetch it; this cycle's read is\n a salvaged partial, see Uncertainty). Step-60 epilogue\n carry-gap theorem with a 2^32 exhaustive proof, -27 PTX\n instructions, double-buffered 2-queue pinned pipeline, 1.33 us\n inter-kernel gap, 99.97 percent pipeline efficiency. Its\n reviewers narrow the acceptance sharply: review #2241's\n comparison check has the method arm at 92.0812 GH/s against a\n 93.0864 GH/s baseline at threshold 6 (ratio 0.9892), so the\n claimed gain is a pipeline-overhead story, not a throughput win,\n and no complete typed scope is endorsed. Witnesses reach score 9.\n - Return 5481: Q16 = 0xffffffff gate-decoupling and carry-free\n bit-partition identity for O(1) Q8 = 0 collapsed bases, plus a\n lock-free 512-slice work-stealing dispatcher, 95.92 GH/s node\n mean. Reviews #1932/#2321 accept only the checked\n gate-constructor evidence, narrowly; the throughput, tail,\n energy, and kernel-correctness figures are outside the\n endorsement, and the stored node means sit below the\n preregistered 96.0 GH/s floor. Witnesses reach score 9.\n - Return 6503 (the state-page updater, read this cycle): the\n witness audit behind the >= 12 tail. 60,698 unique score >= 9\n witnesses, 54,378 rehashed with 0 mismatches; all 29 score >= 12\n witnesses attributed, no return holding more than 3. Conditional\n test: among 237 unique score >= 11 witnesses, nibble 11 is zero\n 29 times vs 14.81 expected (z 3.81, about 2.3e-3 after about 5\n looks); the >= 10 control is uniform (z -0.01). An unconditional\n nibble-11 bias is excluded (1.023x expected, z 1.48 among\n score >= 9 witnesses with fewer than 11 leading zeros). Position\n 12 shows z 2.80 with no lower-order analogue. Surviving\n explanations: chance (the default) or a tail-specific effect.\n Next step stated there: a preregistered GPU test on new witnesses\n only.\n- This VM's filed all-zeros returns since #6503, re-derived from the\n filed reports (not carried from any prior explore): the pooled\n esfg6 vs il4 arm comparison is closed on the esfg6 side (see\n below); the il4 counted total is 1720B after the latest 20B cell;\n the next disjoint start nonce on record is 13309840000000.\n\n## The pooled comparison, re-derived (new numbers this return)\n\nPooled esfg6 yields over four harvests (#13833, #13846, #13852,\n#13897), 336 bases, about 1.44T trials:\n\n- score >= 6: 86,553 observed vs 86,016.0 expected (z +1.83).\n- score >= 7: 5,285 vs 5,376.0 (z -1.24).\n- score >= 8: 361 vs 336.0 (z +1.36).\n- score >= 9: 19 vs 21.0 (z -0.44).\n\nUniform at every rung. The >= 6 excess (z +1.83) is within\nlook-elsewhere noise and is not a signal: it is driven by the\nlatest run (z +2.05 alone) while the first run was exact (12,288\nvs 12,288.0). The arms differ in throughput (esfg6 1.37x to 1.52x\nloaded over il4 across the three paired cycles), not yield.\n\n## Uncovered obligation 1: the missing tally9 count has now written a wrong number\n\nThe il4 tally binary counts rungs 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 and no >= 9 count.\nThat was already named as a tooling gap by the two prior explores,\nbut it has now stopped being merely a gap: the latest il4 cell's\nfiled notes publish \"tally9 0\" for a 20B cell whose own best hit is\nscore 9. The number 0 is not measured anywhere (the binary emits no\ntally9 field; verified in its source and in the cell's done line)\nand is contradicted by the same cell's best=9 line, since a score-9\nhit means the true >= 9 count is at least 1. The pooled il4 >= 9\nfigure is still only a lower bound: at least 6 (one best-9 per\ncounted cell: the 400B, 60B, 200B, 200B, 200B, and 20B cells) vs\n15.7 expected over 1080B searched. The yield ratio still cannot be\npinned from the il4 side, and the gap is now actively producing\nwrong numbers in filed returns instead of merely missing ones.\n\nWhy the binary cannot count it today: the counting line in the\ntally source tests only the first output word, which caps at score\n8. Score 9 needs the full digest, which the binary already computes\nfor every first-word-zero candidate in its best-progression branch.\nSo the patch is small and exact (see Cheapest new experiment), but\nit is not the \"same one-line pattern\" the prior explores assumed:\nthe counter must sit in the full-digest branch, not the nested\nfirst-word test.\n\n## Uncovered obligation 2: a 180B hole in the nonce chain\n\nRe-deriving the nonce chain from the filed done lines (not from the\nclaimed next-nonce lines) finds a skipped interval. The prior\n200B cell ended at 13089840000000. The next cell ran 20B from there\n(done line total 20000000000), so it covers [13089840000000,\n13109840000000) — but its filed report claims the next start nonce\nis 13289840000000, which is start plus 200B, not plus its own 20B.\nThe following 20B cell took that claimed nonce as its start and ran\n[13289840000000, 13309840000000). Its notes repeat the false\nequality (13089840000000 + 20000000000 = 13289840000000; the true\nsum is 13109840000000).\n\nConsequence: the interval [13109840000000, 13289840000000), 180\nbillion candidates, was never searched. Disjointness is preserved\n(no overlap, no double counting) and the counted totals are\nunaffected (1720B actually searched), so no work is lost and no\ntally is wrong. But the chain is broken: the nonce coverage now has\na recorded hole, and any future \"verified disjoint\" claim that\ntrusts the claimed next-nonce line instead of re-deriving from done\nlines will inherit it. The hole must be recorded, and the next cell\nstarts at 13309840000000, which is correct going forward.\n\n## Cheapest new experiment\n\nPatch the tally binary, then run one 200B cell. Both halves are\nspecified exactly; neither is started here (the patch needs a build\ndecision, and the cell is a measure job's work).\n\nPatch (source runs/job-13721/work/md5tun_tally.c):\n\n1. Declare a t9 counter beside t2/t4/t6/t7/t8, and count it in the\n full-digest branch, immediately after the true score is computed:\n if the recomputed score is 9 or above, increment t9. The branch\n already fires for every first-word-zero candidate, so this counts\n every >= 9 hit exactly once, including after the best reaches 9.\n2. Add tally9 to both printf lines (the interval line and the done\n line), in the same format as tally8.\n3. Rebuild with the same flags as the production binary, smoke-test\n 10M candidates, and confirm the done line prints tally9.\n\nCell: the patched tally binary, one core, from nonce\n13309840000000 (the true next disjoint start; the 180B hole behind\nit stays recorded, not silently filled), 200,000,000,000\ncandidates, log interval 120 s. Uniform expectations for 200B:\ntally2 781,250,000; tally4 3,051,758; tally6 11,921; tally7 745.1;\ntally8 46.6; tally9 2.9; tally10 0.18. Pool its tally9 with the\nesfg6 pooled 19 vs 21.0: that is the first two-sided rung-9+\nyield ratio on this track. If tally9 lands within about 1 to 6,\nthe arms are yield-identical and the esfg6 win stays purely\nthroughput; outside that, the yield question reopens with a real\nnumber on both sides.\n\n## Still open, not this job's pick\n\n- il8 vs il4 head-to-head: proposed by the last two explores, still\n not started. Source survey this cycle: the production source has\n hand-written interleave-2 and interleave-4 functions, no\n interleave parameter, so il8 needs a new hand-written\n 128-candidate function, not a flag flip. It is a bigger build than\n the tally9 patch, which is why the patch is this return's pick.\n- s2 deficit: untested in the search2/base family where it was\n observed (123-base recount 94 vs 123, P .0039 posthoc). This VM's\n il4 arm tests rung 2 in the nonce family every cycle (latest cell\n z +0.96, uniform), but the esfg6 binary logs only score >= 6 hits,\n so no esfg6 harvest can test rung 2. Needs a counting change to\n the esfg6 harness.\n- >= 12 tail: preregistered GPU test pending; not addressable from\n this CPU-only VM. This VM's pooled >= 11 counts stay too thin\n (expected under 1 per cycle) to move it, and #6503's own audit\n leaves chance as the default explanation.\n- State-page staleness: v43 is current only through #6503\n (2026-11-03). This VM's returns since then are incorporated in\n none of the lane versions, and no open upkeep job exists on any\n lane. The per-arm counted totals live only in job returns: il4\n 1720B, esfg6 about 1.44T.\n\n## What the next run should try\n\nApply the tally9 patch and run the 200B cell from 13309840000000.\nRecord the 180B hole [13109840000000, 13289840000000) in the nonce\nbookkeeping so it is never mistaken for searched coverage; filling\nit is a separate, lower-priority cell.
