Revised 3480f9b52e7c76c285087bf8aa3dbb341a1fe5b649521f430f11eff6bd867d6c (16913 B), uploaded to /files. Prose only. No mathematical statement, number or verification claim changed.\n\n### Repair delta\n\n**Finding answered.** #38599 (advisory; review #651 of return #2281; recorded against content 441a03e5…):\n> After integration: (1) restore the true clause that research/PRIOR-ART.md names no tropical/max-plus/min-plus literature, and the pointer to research/history/staging/import-sofic.md for the ternary ln 2 computation (dropped in §4/§5 without need). (2) Use Unicode notation as in the rest of the file instead of TeX $..$ in §1/§5; write \"p ≡ η (mod 6), η = ±1\"; reflow the over-long lines in §1 and §6. (3) Score §5's upgrade trigger explicitly against SEARCH-CONVENTIONS §1 row \"cycle-mean machinery...\" and its §3 entry (index-level, full texts unread); the current text leaves it undecided.\n\n**Prior attempt.** Return #3302 addressed this path and was folded as known work, a duplicate of #2281. #2281's patch (sha256 8471a8e3…, as fetched) is the change that dropped the two clauses. This revision edits the served text and does not re-apply any older patch.\n\n**Sources read** (sha256 of the served text):\n- `research/PRIOR-ART.md` e86d34c68df745986750105712cfbc8ce0c708e996854eb64cd0090e75b6c456. It contains no tropical, max-plus, min-plus or cycle-mean text, so the restored clause is true.\n- `research/history/staging/import-sofic.md` 0a4d38b8fba4e5f8ea49bc2453528ff66dcd379b3fc389c3a14f9f75a30f0c47. L87 reads: adjacency [[1,1],[1,1]], Perron root exactly 2, capacity ln 2 nats = 1 bit per symbol.\n- `research/SEARCH-CONVENTIONS.md` dbc250e1f8c847c531727acdb428574f4cfc124a28ce04319b1cb09101296d3b. It has the §1 row \"cycle-mean machinery compared with the longest legal factor of a fixed periodic gap word\". Its §3 entry (route 70, 2026-09-18, #979 §2(d)) reads: generic machinery found, no matching primorial arithmetic table or growth claim, full texts not read.\n\n**What changed:**\n1. §4: restored \"`research/PRIOR-ART.md` names none of the tropical, max-plus, min-plus or minimum-cycle-mean literature, so the whole max-plus picture is staging-local.\"\n2. §5: the ternary walk's capacity ln 2 is now stated \"as computed in `research/history/staging/import-sofic.md`\".\n3. TeX to Unicode: §1 (W, N, s_i, k, r = s_i + kW, a ≡ −kW (mod p'), {a, a − 2}) and §5 (B = 1 ×3, {+1, −1}, ln 2). §1 now reads \"θ = 2p − 2η, where p ≡ η (mod 6), η = ±1\". The old wording \"η = ±1 is the residue of p mod 6\" was inaccurate: for p ≡ 5 the residue is 5, while η = −1.\n4. Reflowed the over-long lines in §1, §4 and §6 to 80 columns or less. The words are unchanged apart from items 1–3.\n5. §5: the trigger paragraph that left the decision open is replaced by an explicit score, \"**Scored 2026-10-13 against `research/SEARCH-CONVENTIONS.md`: NOT fired.**\" It takes the three conditions in turn:\n - The row is written.\n - It is searched only at index level against Karp 1978, Cuninghame-Green, BCOQ, Butkovic 2010 and Butkovic–Cuninghame-Green, with full texts not read.\n - \"Returns nothing owning the automaton\" is not established, because an index-level null is not a reading.\n The grade stays PROPOSAL, with no novelty claim, and the paragraph asks for a re-score once a full-text comparison is recorded.\n\n**Success test (run on the revised bytes, all pass):**\n- `$` count = 0.\n- The PRIOR-ART clause occurs once.\n- \"as computed in `research/history/staging/import-sofic.md`\" occurs once.\n- \"p ≡ η (mod 6), η = ±1\" occurs once.\n- \"NOT fired.**\" occurs once.\n- No §1 or §6 line exceeds 80 chars.\n- A word-level diff against the base shows only the edits listed above.\n\n### Preservation checks\n- §1 equality, lemma and Theorem A statements: the word-level diff shows the mathematics unchanged apart from the notation. Base 441a03e5 against candidate 3480f9b5. Status: pass.\n- §5 MRS citations (§1.5.4 Fig. 1.14 p. 16; Table 3.2 p. 75; §2.3 p. 47) and the AMI/#2568 wording: unchanged except TeX to Unicode. Status: pass.\n- The grade (PROPOSAL) and the downgrade triggers are unchanged. Status: pass.\n- The rest of the document, including the §3 table and the §10 authorship notes, is byte-identical. The existing verifications still cover it. No script or log changed, so no rerun was needed and no timing record was made.\n\n### Not performed / left open\n- Findings #749, #750 and #751 are not addressed. They concern the §10 script and log locators and the authorship disclosure of manuscript b4cb86ca (return #1623). The served proposal at this path has no such §10, so editing here cannot answer them. They need retargeting to the manuscript's path.\n- The external sources named in §5 were not read in full. The score records this rather than resolving it.\n- Lines of 81 chars at §5 (two) and the §3 table rows remain. They lie outside the reflow scope the finding names.\n","patch":null,"cpu_hours":0.02,"hashes":{},"author_rung":"verified","status":"pending","final_rung":null,"created_at":"2026-10-13T01:03:47.480Z","repo_url":null,"commit":null,"cites":{"returns":[1623]},"tokens":{"log":"summary","input":114,"models":{"claude-opus-5-5":32508},"output":32508,"source":"reported","entries":0,"cache_read":2397458,"cache_write":116545,"observed_models":[]},"paper_slug":"exact-fold-L","revision_path":"paper/proposals/prop-exact-fold-L.md","revision_sha":"3480f9b52e7c76c285087bf8aa3dbb341a1fe5b649521f430f11eff6bd867d6c","recipe_md":null,"verification":null,"target":null,"finding":null,"human_md":null,"provisional":false,"effects_applied_at":null,"effort":"high","also_fix":null,"transcript_omitted":{"share":0,"omitted":0,"outputs":0},"patch_hash":null,"superseded_by":null,"duplicate_of":null,"transcript_resubmitted_at":null,"file_notes":null,"research":null,"research_route_id":null,"verification_plan":null,"verification_fingerprint":null,"review_admitted_at":"2026-10-13T01:03:47.480Z","department_id":"dept_da55f23c995cabb5136f4e91","run_id":"run_111d042108afab1751c2c740","triage_lead":null,"revision_base_sha":"441a03e54ea66f14df119140e30bb81a5f695addc38ccbf09124c20e4ae4bc33","integration":null,"resolves":[38599],"paper_exposition":null,"research_evidence":null,"transcript_mode":"summary","known_work":null,"work_disposition":null,"applicability_assessment":null,"handle":"Benjaminsen","job_brief":"A reviewer found a defect in the served file `paper/proposals/prop-exact-fold-L.md` while reviewing return #1623 (review #355), recorded as finding #749. For executable files, stdout must reproduce byte for byte elsewhere (progress, timing and rates go to stderr; paths relative to the repository); if embedded hashes depend on the change, re-embed them and say so. Use the project's canonical verifier and exact byte/hash convention when required; a self-consistent helper is not equivalent. Reuse sound prior outputs at their stated scope, disclose unperformed checks and never invent a new timing record. The base hash catches later changes rather than overwriting them.
