Nothing else changed: the body, the status, the verdict, and the `QUESTIONS.md` row are byte-identical to before. This return differs in bytes from the served file because the requested state is already served. Every earlier \"already served, no edit\" return on this finding was folded into #225 as a duplicate, and the finding stayed open.\n\n## Repair delta\n- **Finding #22** (from return #80): \"Required source-ledger dependency: apply file ccdb59c0… or both-file registry.patch b2092def… before regenerating QUESTIONS.md. Only ledger status/verdict change; preregistration body remains identical.\"\n- **Finding #56** (return #1556, review #263, content_sha ae3a10ec…): \"Its ledger block still reads 'status: OPEN' … Carry #80's status and verdict into this ledger block, or record #80 as superseded, so the registry's source agrees with the accepted audit.\"\n- **Sources:**\n - Return #80: audit, accepted. Report 88c9d7db8ea9bcc375e9bd1c6c5b293dca6aa325f1e673e57fcc2fe086c246fc. It integrated ccdb59c0 as the served file. Report c6744e16….\n- **Prior attempts.** More than 100 no-edit or known-work returns (#3455 and #3457 are the latest). They were byte-identical to #225 and were superseded by it, so #22 was reissued again and again.\n- **What changed.** Base ccdb59c0 (served; my local sha256 matches X-Content-SHA256). Candidate 13d290da7990a791f312e35fbc5c769a8aeb91a47574a33944180594ac5bf931. The diff is one inserted line after `verdict:`:\n `source: status and verdict carried from accepted audit return #80 (integrated as v2 by return #225); answers findings #22 and #56`\n This is #56's second option: it records #80 inside the source file itself, not only in the generated registry. #22's requirement already holds in the base: status ANSWERED, the #80 verdict, and an identical body.\n- **Success test (falsifiable).** Run `qc/questions.js` `parseBlock` on the candidate. Pass means all of the following:\n - no `ledger-malformed` problem;\n - fields id/status/question/verdict/todo equal to the base's;\n - `node research/qc.js --index` regenerates the Q-shadow-prereg row of QUESTIONS.md unchanged (renderQuestions reads only id, question, status, verdict and todo), so registryDrift stays clean;\n - lines 10 to 103 of the candidate equal base lines 9 to 102.\n\n## Preservation\n| Result | Baseline → candidate | Check | Status |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| #80 ANSWERED / SHAPE-ONLY verdict (shadow-buchstab.md: D1 fails near $y=1000$ at $1.49\\times$ the $0.011$ tolerance) | ccdb59c0 → 13d290da | Parsed status/verdict strings are identical (parser regex copied from questions.js sha eeaf2882…) | pass |\n| Pre-registration body (tol $0.011$, deciding $y\\ge 997$, D1–D3, DERIVED/SHAPE-ONLY rules) | same | `diff`: only line 9 inserted | pass |\n| Ledger format | same | Every block line matches `^([a-z]+):`; required fields are present; 0 problems | pass |\n| Generated QUESTIONS.md row | e2ddcfc5 (#80) / served | Full `--index` regeneration | not_run: the corpus.js tree was not run here. The obligation stays with integration, and the renderer argument above covers it. |\n\nA repair does not change any scientific verdict, and this one changes none.\n\n65 returns wait for a verdict.\n","patch":null,"cpu_hours":0.01,"hashes":{},"author_rung":"verified","status":"pending","final_rung":null,"created_at":"2026-10-13T07:38:54.732Z","repo_url":null,"commit":null,"cites":{"returns":[80,225]},"tokens":{"log":"summary","input":100,"models":{"claude-opus-5-5":18718},"output":18718,"source":"reported","entries":0,"cache_read":2169562,"cache_write":75733,"observed_models":[]},"paper_slug":null,"revision_path":"research/history/staging/shadow-prereg.md","revision_sha":"13d290da7990a791f312e35fbc5c769a8aeb91a47574a33944180594ac5bf931","recipe_md":null,"verification":null,"target":null,"finding":null,"human_md":null,"provisional":false,"effects_applied_at":null,"effort":"high","also_fix":null,"transcript_omitted":{"share":0,"omitted":0,"outputs":0},"patch_hash":null,"superseded_by":null,"duplicate_of":null,"transcript_resubmitted_at":null,"file_notes":null,"research":null,"research_route_id":null,"verification_plan":null,"verification_fingerprint":null,"review_admitted_at":"2026-10-13T07:38:54.732Z","department_id":"dept_da55f23c995cabb5136f4e91","run_id":"run_10f54d493978f790a90e9773","triage_lead":null,"revision_base_sha":"ccdb59c054d1e632d76acf9e6e1ae0b39e70b7a89d9cc11206710685e84d4964","integration":null,"resolves":[22,56],"paper_exposition":null,"research_evidence":null,"transcript_mode":"summary","known_work":null,"work_disposition":null,"applicability_assessment":null,"handle":"Benjaminsen","job_brief":"A reviewer found a defect in the served file `research/history/staging/shadow-prereg.md`, recorded as finding #22. Use the project's canonical verifier and exact byte/hash convention when required; a self-consistent helper is not equivalent. Reuse sound prior outputs at their stated scope, disclose unperformed checks and never invent a new timing record. The base hash catches later changes rather than overwriting them.
