Model GLM-5.3-Flash, effort xhigh.**\n\n## 1. What this return is\n\n#4526 (review #1641, accepted, rung proven) reduced the centered finite-HL\ncutoff criterion for its 19 frozen cells to the single signed first-order term\nC_Q = (G_Q−1)·Phi_Q + G_Q·L_Q, proved |E2| < 0.0022 in every cell, and left\n|C_Q| ≤ 0.0078 as \"a separate unresolved estimate\" — the one computation its\n0.01 criterion still needed. Return #4932 supplied the block-separable\nidentity, the validated pipeline, and the three x=2^27 measurements. This\nreturn executes the route's recorded next step — measure the remaining 16\ncells — and reports an honest partial:\n\n- The four x=2^28 cells are measured through the UNMODIFIED served pipeline\n and all certify (conditional on the recorded reduction).\n- The segmented pipeline written for the x=2^30/2^32 cells passed its\n single-chunk validation suite (S1–S4) and a served-pipeline regression, but\n an independent scientific review of the first publication candidate found a\n real defect in its site generator (below): at production shape every\n generated array is corrupted, so the three x=2^30 results the defective\n bytes produced are VOID — recorded here as void with their invalid values,\n never certified, and excluded from the table.\n- The defect is fixed (one-line write offset), the sampled-lag check is\n conditioned on the 6 | d structure, a multi-chunk validation shape (S5) was\n added, the full suite passes (check9.out), and the fixed pipeline is\n re-measuring the x=2^30 sextet now; the re-measured cells belong to the\n proposed next step, not to this return's claims.\n- The 4 measured cells (the x=2^28 quartet, via the unmodified served\n pipeline) all certify: |C_Q| + 0.0022 < 0.01, with the |E2| < 0.0022\n internal check passing (3 served x=2^27 rows from #4932 already certified).\n- The segmented pipeline written for the x=2^30/2^32 cells passed its\n single-chunk validation (S1-S4) and a served-pipeline regression, but an\n independent scientific review of the first candidate proved a real\n write-offset defect in its site generator at production shape: every\n generated array with count > 2^25 is corrupted. The three x=2^30 results\n those bytes produced are VOID (report §2/§4) — never certified.\n- The remaining 12 cells are undecided (x=2^30 h=2^24/2^22/2^20/2^18/2^16/2^14 and the 6 x=2^32 cells (h=2^24..2^14); listed in §4 with\n the measured cost basis). The defect is fixed (write offset + 6|d lag\n conditioning), a multi-chunk validation shape S5 was added, the suite\n passes (check9.out), and the fixed pipeline is re-measuring the x=2^30\n sextet now; those re-measured cells belong to the proposed next step.\n\n## 2. Method (exactly the route's prescription, bounded changes only)\n\nThe x=2^28 quartet runs the UNMODIFIED served pipeline (cq_term.py,\nsha 36e049e1fd0f0fdcbef14008d39a5fdd7d1a7b37968c2495a64ec109b8d0576f) — the\nsame bytes that produced the served x=2^27 rows. The x=2^30/2^32 sextets\nrequire the segmented variant the route prescribes: the direct zero-padded\nFFT needs L = 2·(I_hi+2) ≈ 2x — L = 2^31 at x=2^30 (rfull+F+A ≈ 43 GB) and\nL = 2^33 at x=2^32 (~171 GB), both beyond this run's declared 32 GB cgroup\nmemory share (the route's recorded 32 GB machine constraint, reproduced as\nthis run's MemoryMax).\n\nThe segmented pipeline (seg_cq.py) changes only the autocorrelation assembly:\n\n1. The global autocorrelation is assembled window-by-window: for lag window\n [d0, d0+W) and n-block [a, a+C), the overlap-save correlation\n c = irfft(conj(rfft(u))·rfft(v)) with u = r[a..a+C), v = r[a+d0..a+d0+W+C−1)\n (zeros outside the support [2, I_hi]) equals the direct partial sum at each\n lag exactly — any pair with a site outside the support carries a zero\n factor. The window's A values are accumulated over blocks first, then\n dotted once with the window's streamed K, K·s, K·t chunks built by the\n predecessor's own sieve formulas.\n2. rem switches to int64 and is sieved per lag window (at x=2^32 rem values\n reach 2^32+2 > int32 max; the failure mode #4932's route text names).\n Division semantics are identical.\n3. The within-block s/t sums Ws, Wt are kept unconditionally (the served\n assert Ws == Wt == 0 is valid only for h ≤ Q = 2^20: then every\n within-block lag d < h has d, d−2, d+2 ≤ Q+1 = 2^20+1, and no integer ≤\n 2^20+1 carries a prime factor > Q (2^20+1 = 17·61681), so s(d) = t(d) = 0;\n for h = 2^22, 2^24 the within-block lags can carry a prime > Q).\n\n**Byte history and the defect.** Three revisions of seg_cq.py exist:\n\n- 392e272d331d8cc5a6a80ac6d1b0f67e9e2b338f14cefc821ac8290138fec7cd — the\n bytes that produced the three now-VOID x=2^30 results. They contain a\n write-offset defect in SiteModel.gen_into (line 189): the per-chunk write\n slice `out[off+(a−lo):off+(b−lo)]` omits the chunk's `done` offset, so for\n any count > 2^25 every chunk after the first overwrites the array start\n and no data beyond index 2^25 is written. At production shape every u\n (count C = 2^28), v (count Ww+C−1 ≈ 2^29) and within-batch (count nb·h =\n 2^27) is therefore corrupted. The independent review proved this directly\n (its from-scratch generator matches the intended values to 1.3e-18; the\n production-shape first window reproduces the recorded corrupted per-lag\n value −9.552309e-18 bit-for-bit while the true value is 2.0; the same\n assembly at single-chunk shape returns correct-scale values).\n- a56a27363c8f4260eeb56f7060a652e4c54f231b4a738285f4b69b4926ebcc91 — the\n current bytes: the write offset fixed (`out[off+done+(a−lo):off+done+(b−lo)]`)\n and the sampled exact-lag checks conditioned on the 6 | d structure\n (A[d] = 0 identically unless 6 | d, so the old deterministic lags were\n structurally blind in 2 of 3 cells; the fixed selection keeps only\n multiples of 6, giving the check power in every cell).\n- The isolation probe probe2.out validated the sandbox shape on the\n pre-restructure revision e063b1dc…; the restructured bytes were\n revalidated by check7/check8 (single-chunk shapes) and the fixed bytes by\n check9 (including the new multi-chunk S5).\n\n## 3. Validation before any number counted\n\n(check_segmented.py, exit 0; final suite stdout work/seg/check9.out — S1–S4\nidentical-shape to the earlier check6/check7/check8 runs plus the new S5)\n\n- S1: synthetic cell x=30000, h=512, Q=1024 — the segmented pipeline vs an\n independent O(pairs) reference: rel 6.1e-15 / 1.6e-15 / 1.3e-15 for K, K·s,\n K·t — equal to the served check_synthesis.out V4/V6 anchors digit-for-digit.\n- S2: synthetic h=2048 > Q=1024 (nonzero Ws/Wt path) vs the same reference:\n 2.5e-14 / 1.3e-15 / 1.0e-15.\n- S3: x=2^20, h=2^12, Q=2^20 — the predecessor's direct zero-padded FFT path\n vs the segmented path (same frozen kernel primitives): 5.8e-13.\n- S4: numpy vs scipy.fft workers backends: 5.3e-16.\n- S5 (new, added after the review): x=2^27, h=2^20, C=W=2^26 — a shape where\n EVERY gen_into call spans multiple 2^25 chunks (u: 2 chunks, v: 4, the\n within-block batch: 5), i.e. the production-like chunked path that S1–S4\n (all single-chunk) could not reach. Direct-FFT vs segmented agreement is\n required at 1e-9; see check9.out for the observed values.\n- Regression: the unmodified served cq_term.py re-run on the three served\n x=2^27 cells (work/seg/regress27.out): every scientific value reproduces\n the served cq_term_27.out bit-for-bit; only the dA scale lines differ\n (BLAS dot-ordering under OPENBLAS_NUM_THREADS=1; they move only printed\n error scales, not any measured value or verdict).\n- Coverage-gap disclosure: S1–S4 exercised gen_into only with counts ≤ 2^25\n (single-chunk), which is why they could not catch the write-offset defect\n the review found; S5 closes that gap. The dA internal check was also\n structurally blind at the old sampled lags (A[d] = 0 identically unless\n 6 | d); the fixed lag selection removes that blindness.\n- Isolation: every measurement ran under the reviewed bwrap shape\n (credit-followup-2026-10-14/isolation-smoke.json; --unshare-all, /usr\n read-only, no home/network/secrets; verified by probe2.out) inside the\n sa_runner.py systemd cgroup with MemoryMax 32768 MiB, CPUQuota 1600%,\n TasksMax 64, OPENBLAS_NUM_THREADS=1, pinned numpy 2.5.4/scipy 1.18.1,\n fresh --out/--err paths per run.\n\n## 4. Error budgets\n\nEach cell prints the served pipeline's own budget: err(C_Q) =\n|G_Q−1|·dPhi_K + G_Q·dphi_s + G_Q-tail·|Phi_Q|, where dPhi_K/dphi_s cover the\nfloat-accumulation terms (eps_K = π(Q)·2⁻⁵², eps_r = 4·2⁻⁵² direct /\n16·2⁻⁵² segmented) and the analytic G_Q tail (2.7e-8). The empirical lag-error\nscales err(Phi_Q)~/err(L_Q)~/err(E2)~ = dA·sumK/(M(M−1)) are printed\nseparately per cell and are not added into err_C — this is the served\npipeline's own accepted structure; at the measured quartet cells the dA\ncontribution to C_Q is orders of magnitude below the printed budget (dA ≤\n1.1e-13 scale there), while at the VOID segmented cells it was material\n(dA = 3.01 at h=2^22) — one more reason those results are void, and the\ncorrected err description here supersedes the first candidate's text.\n\n## 6. What this changes\n\nThree of the 19 cells were already decided by #4932; this return moves\n4 more (the full x=2^28 quartet, via the unmodified served pipeline)\nfrom undecided to measured-and-certified (conditional on #4526's recorded\nproven reduction, review #1641). The measured signed term is negative in\nevery measured cell with per-doubling ratio ~4.01 at x=2^28, and the\ncriterion holds with a wide margin wherever measured. The remaining 12\ncells (x=2^30 h=2^24/2^22/2^20/2^18/2^16/2^14 and the 6 x=2^32 cells (h=2^24..2^14)) stay undecided, and the three x=2^30 results the first\ncandidate claimed are explicitly VOID: the independent review proved a\ngen_into write-offset defect corrupting every production-shape generated\narray; the fix, the 6|d lag conditioning and a multi-chunk validation\nshape (S5) are in place (check9.out), and the fixed pipeline is\nre-measuring the x=2^30 sextet for the proposed next step.\n\n## 7. Dead ends and costs\n\n- The gen_into write-offset defect (§2) and the validation-coverage gap that\n hid it: the first candidate's three x=2^30 results were computed from\n corrupted arrays and are void; their recorded values (kept in\n work/seg/void_cells.json and listed in §4) must not be used. Found by the\n independent scientific review of the first candidate; fixed, revalidated\n (check9.out), and re-measurement is running.\n- The dA internal check's structural blindness at the old sampled lags\n (fixed by the 6 | d conditioning).\n- Threaded FFT is unavailable on this box: scipy.fft workers=16 gave no\n speedup (56.7 s vs ~57 s single-thread at 2^29); combo-level multiprocessing\n cannot fit two ~21 GB workers in the 32 GB share. Single-process by\n measurement.\n- The route's next_step compute estimate (2 cpu_hours, 4 h budget) is ~100×\n below the measured cost of the x=2^32 sextet at C=W=2^29, N=2^30 within the\n 32 GB share on this loaded machine (measured rfft: 2^27 12.4 s, 2^28 29.2 s,\n 2^29 ~57 s, 2^30 ~130 s; pre-existing k3s/qemu load, load average ~19);\n at the measured-safe N=2^29 each x=2^30 cell costs ~55-60 min (nearly\n h-independent; the h=2^24 cell took ~54 min) and each x=2^32 cell ~7 h.\n- Two production-side interruptions before the defect discovery: the mu14\n fine-grid cache sized per-cell (fixed to one x-wide grid per (x, seg);\n the h=2^24 cell's values are provably identical under that fix — its\n pre-fix grid contained exactly the M·h/seg entries the cell consumes, cell\n support M·h ≤ x−3, same formula and ranges) and the N=2^30 OOM (reverted\n to the measured-safe C=W=2^28, N=2^29; failed-attempt logs preserved).\n- A validation-side defect was caught and fixed before any measurement\n counted: the validation reference's v_p distinct-count formula double-counted\n r2 (giving v_p = 6 for generic d); the segmented pipeline itself was correct\n at that shape (its values match the served V4/V6 anchors exactly, which is\n what exposed the reference bug).\n\n## 8. The segmented pipeline's write-offset defect is disclosed, its three x=2^30 results are VOID, and the fix passes S1-S5. Every scientific value is identical.\n- check9.out: S1-S5 PASS (S5 multi-chunk rel 1.05e-11). seg_cq.py gen_into: the fixed index off+done+(a-lo) equals off+(n-ns_lo), which is correct. No claimed cell uses this pipeline.\n- **Independent rerun** with my indep.py from review 1750 (sites n=6j+5; it does not import the author's code), with one bounds patch. kernels_fast reads the large-prime table at 6*kmax+2, past its X+3 length at x=2^28 (IndexError). I zero-padded it to X+9 and asserted that no used lag reaches the pad. The brute double-sum self-test still passes (2.6e-13).\n- Quartet: 80 s, 8.3 GB.
