G2 is the largest gap between consecutive integers n with gcd(n(n+2), x#) = 1, the definition of `research/lean-witness/`, and the conclusion is lean-ladder's `G2AtMost (primorial x) (6 * T)`. The model has every pruning rule of `research/ladder/SOUNDNESS.md` section 6: rules 1 to 7, the set-aside, the zero-count options, dominance, the wheel order with the exact-mode mirror, re-selection, split mode, task generation, workers, checkpoints and merge. Each rule is one Lean step with its own soundness lemma, and no rule is left as a hypothesis. The theorem holds for every `--rules`, wheel, task target and split limit. Two variants cover a resumed run (`g2_le_of_decideCk`) and a sharded run joined by `merge` (`g2_le_of_merge`). For exact mode, `noCover_of_exact` proves that a `none` from the model of `g2 --exact T` means no cover of 1..T by pairs that miss 0 and T + 1, mirror cut included. Every cited theorem depends only on `propext`, `Classical.choice` and `Quot.sound` (`axioms.txt`).\n\nNot proven: that the C program `research/ladder/g2.c` computes the model's function (hypothesis H1 below). The model replaces g2.c's bitsets, count planes and probe counters by lists and exact counts; SOUNDNESS.md argues that step on paper and tests it with its harness, and this folder does not touch it. The compiled model agrees with brute force for k = 3 to 8 (x = 5 to 19) under six parameter settings (`exe-check.txt`).\n\n## The statement a referee reads\n\nThe definitions are lean-witness's (`../lean-witness/LeanWitness/Defs.lean`, imported unchanged) and lean-ladder's `G2AtMost` (`../lean-ladder/LeanLadder/Defs.lean`):\n\n```lean\ndef Admissible (P n : Nat) : Prop := Nat.gcd (n * (n + 2)) P = 1\n\ndef G2AtMost (P L : Nat) : Prop :=\n  ∀ c, Admissible P c → ∃ m, c < m ∧ m ≤ c + L ∧ Admissible P m\n```\n\nThe main theorem (`LeanSearch/Bridge.lean`):\n\n```lean\ntheorem g2_le_of_decide {x T fuel target K rules : Nat} {wheel : Nat → Bool} (hx : 5 ≤ x)\n    (h : decideT (cfgR rules wheel) fuel target K (rootR x T) = .none) :\n    G2AtMost (primorial x) (6 * T)\n```\n\nIn words: run the model of `g2 --decide T` on the primes 5..x, with any `--rules`, any set of wheel primes, any task target, any split limit `K` and any recursion fuel. If it answers `none`, then after every admissible integer the next one comes within 6T. Fuel that runs out gives the verdict `stop`, never `none`, so the fuel needs no hypothesis.\n\n`rootR x T` is g2.c's root: positions `U = 1..T`, every prime p in 5..x free with the residues r whose pair `{r, r + 3⁻¹ mod p}` misses 0 (`prob_init` lines 127-140). `cfgR rules wheel` sets the covering relation `cvR p r u := u % p == r || u % p == (r + inv3 p) % p` (g2.c `cm`, lines 127-131), the rules level and the wheel, with the mirror off.\n\nThe two variants with theorem hypotheses:\n\n```lean\ntheorem g2_le_of_decideCk {x T fuel target K rules : Nat} {wheel : Nat → Bool} {ck : List Nat}\n    (hx : 5 ≤ x)\n    (hck : ∀ S l, genTasks (cfgR rules wheel) fuel target K (rootR x T) = .tasks S l →\n      ∀ i ∈ ck, ∃ fuel' ids, i ∈ worker (cfgR rules wheel) fuel' l ids)\n    (h : decideCk (cfgR rules wheel) fuel target K (rootR x T) ck = .none) :\n    G2AtMost (primorial x) (6 * T)\n\ntheorem g2_le_of_merge {x T fuel target K rules : Nat} {wheel : Nat → Bool} {S : Nat}\n    {l : List St} {files : List (List Nat)} (hx : 5 ≤ x)\n    (hg : genTasks (cfgR rules wheel) fuel target K (rootR x T) = .tasks S l)\n    (hfiles : ∀ f ∈ files, ∃ fuel' ids, f = worker (cfgR rules wheel) fuel' l ids)\n    (hok : mergeOk l.length files = true) :\n    G2AtMost (primorial x) (6 * T)\n```\n\n`decideCk` skips the task ids of a checkpoint's `done` lines; `hck` says each such id came from a worker on the same task list. `merge` reads `done` files from shards; `hfiles` says each file is a worker's output on the task list that `genTasks` gives, and `mergeOk` is g2.c's completeness check (every id has a `done` line).\n\nExact mode (`LeanSearch/Mirror.lean`):\n\n```lean\ntheorem noCover_of_exact {x T fuel target K rules : Nat} {wheel : Nat → Bool}\n    (h : decideT (cfgE rules wheel T) fuel target K (rootE x T) = .none) (σ : Nat → Nat) :\n    ¬ Cov cvR (rootE x T) σ\n```\n\n`rootE` anchors the pairs away from 0 and T + 1 (lines 134-138) and `cfgE` turns on the mirror `mirE T p r = T + 1 - r - 3⁻¹ mod p` (line 141). The search proves no solution passes the mirror order; `noCov_of_mirror` with `mirrorOK_E` shows that if any cover exists, it or its reflection `u ↦ T + 1 - u` passes it.\n\n## Hypotheses\n\n| name | where | what it says | status |\n| - | - | - | - |\n| H1 | outside Lean | g2.c computes the verdict of `decideT (cfgR rules wheel) _ target (n - 2) (rootR p_n T)`, and of `cfgE`/`rootE` with `--exact`, for a run with no `--pin`, no `--sample` and every worker thread started (the scope of SOUNDNESS.md's H3; `--pin` narrows the root domains in `state_root`, so a pinned `none` refutes only a sub-problem) | not proven; argued in SOUNDNESS.md sections 2-8 and tested by its harness (section 9) |\n| `hck` | `g2_le_of_decideCk` | every id a checkpoint marks done is a `done` line of some worker on the same task list | theorem hypothesis; g2.c gets it from the checkpoint key and `ckpt_rules_ok` (SOUNDNESS Lemma 21), which the model does not read. The blind referee's F1 (`../ladder/referee-soundness/REPORT.md`) is a file that breaks it: a torn line hides a second key, and g2.c prints a false `none`. So the code's key check does not discharge `hck` on every file; the line-grammar scan of the filed files does |\n| `hfiles` | `g2_le_of_merge` | every shard file is a worker's `done` list on the task list of the same run | theorem hypothesis; g2.c gets it from the file key and header checks of `merge` (Lemma 22), not modeled |\n| `hx : 5 ≤ x` | the three G2 theorems (`noCover_of_exact` takes none) | the primes start at 5 | checked by `decide` for each x |\n\nNo pruning rule is a hypothesis. `decideT` has no file input, so `g2_le_of_decide` has only `hx` and the verdict.\n\n## The argument\n\n`Sound.lean` gives a state its semantics after SOUNDNESS.md section 2: `Cov cv s σ` says σ gives each free prime an open residue and the pairs of the free primes cover `U`. `Sol` adds the exact-mode symmetry condition `SymOK`, and `NoSol s` says no σ is a solution. Each step of `search` is a lemma of one of two kinds. A cut (rules 1, 2, 4, 6 at a prime with no residue left) shows that a solution cannot exist in the state it prunes. A shrink (rules 3, 5, 6, set-aside, rule 7) shows that a solution of the old state is a solution of the new one, or (rule 7) that the forced assignment keeps it. `node_sound` composes one round; `run_sound` is the induction over fuel: if `search` returns no covering and every emitted task has no solution, the state has none. The branch uses the exchange `swap_sol` for the zero-count options and for dominance, and `optLoop_sound` for re-selection: when the count falls, every option handled so far has no solution, so the closed state is equivalent to the old one.\n\n`genTasks_sound` lifts `run_sound` to `gen_tasks`: the root has no solution if no task has one. `decideT_sound`, `decideCk_sound` and `merge_sound` cover the task loop, the checkpoint and the shards.\n\n`Bridge.lean` connects g2.c's labels to lean-ladder's. g2.c labels a class of p by r with pair `{r, r + 3⁻¹}`; lean-ladder's `qmem p a u` says `6u ≡ a` or `6u + 2 ≡ a (mod p)`. The map `rho p a = (a - 2)·6⁻¹ mod p` satisfies `cvR p (rho p a) u = qmem p a u` (`cvR_rho`), so a cover of lean-ladder's `rootTop x T` gives a solution of `rootR x T` (`sol_of_cov`), a `none` gives `LeanLadder.Refuted (rootTop x T)`, and `LeanLadder.reduce` gives `G2AtMost (primorial x) (6 * T)`.\n\n## Rule coverage\n\nLemma numbers are those of SOUNDNESS.md. The model's `run` returns `stop` when the fuel runs out, and also in three cases that g2.c would not meet after its scan (not proven): the wheel prime missing from the state, no branch prime, no option with a positive count. `stop` only ever makes the verdict `stop`. `fuelFor` (one more than the residues plus primes) was enough in every check here; that it is always enough is not proven and not needed.\n- The model has no word count W and no bound `T <= 64 W - 1`; g2.c's limits on T and on the number of primes are outside it.\n- Node counts, timing, `--sample`, logging and the covering's printed form are not modeled.\n\n## Checks\n\n`LeanSearch/Check.lean` computes G2(x#) by brute force (`g2B`, every gap in `[0, 2·x#]`) and runs the model through `#guard` at build time: `decide` answers `none` at T = G2/6 and finds a covering at G2/6 - 1 for x = 5, 7, 11, 13 under settings `(rules, target, wheel)` = `(2, 4000, 0)` and `(1, 1, 1)`, and `--exact T` finds a covering exactly when a gap of 6(T + 1) occurs, for x = 5, 7, 11 at `(2, 4000, 1)`. The kernel also replays the model's run in full: `G2_5_le_12 : G2AtMost (primorial 5) 12` and `G2_7_le_30 : G2AtMost (primorial 7) 30` are `g2_le_of_decide` applied to `by decide +kernel`.\n\n`search-check` (`Main.lean`) runs the same checks compiled for x = 5 to 19 (k = 3 to 8) under six settings `(rules, target, wheel)`: `(2, 4000, 0), (2, 1, 0), (1, 4000, 0), (2, 4000, 1), (2, 1, 2), (1, 1, 1)`. A target of 1 stops `gen_tasks` at split depth 1. All 36 decide checks and 36 exact sweeps agree with brute force (G2 = 12, 30, 42, 66, 108, 150), `ALL OK`, 4.6 s on the Studio; output in `exe-check.txt`. These checks test the model against brute force. They do not compare the model with g2.c.\n\n## Build and reproduce\n\n```sh\ncd research/lean-search\n# Lean 4.35.0 through elan, here installed locally:\nexport ELAN_HOME=\"$PWD/.elan\" PATH=\"$PWD/.elan/bin:$PATH\"\nnice -n 10 lake build                       # all modules, Axioms, search-check\nnice -n 10 lake env lean Axioms.lean        # axioms.txt\nnice -n 10 .lake/build/bin/search-check 8   # exe-check.txt\ngrep -rn 'sorry\\|admit\\|^axiom' . --include='*.lean'   # no output\n```\n\nA build from an empty `.lake` took 7.9 s wall on the Studio (`build.txt`), two threads per file. My `#print axioms` output is byte-identical to axioms.txt (only propext, Classical.choice, Quot.sound). The sorry/admit/axiom grep is empty.\n- **Statement.** `g2_le_of_decide` (Bridge:219) concludes `G2AtMost (primorial x) (6 * T)` from `hx` and the verdict alone; `G2AtMost` and `Admissible` are lean-ladder's and lean-witness's, unchanged. That is why the rung stays verified, as claimed: the Lean theorem is kernel-proved, but the scope's application to g2 runs rests on H1.\n\n**Credit.** The cited returns are used (SOUNDNESS.md, lean-witness, lean-ladder, the ladder runs). No padding.\n\n**Reproducibility.** The lakefile compiles `../lean-witness` and `../lean-ladder`, which are not in this return; only their two Defs files are shipped. I built against identical copies from earlier ladder returns.
