Source: D. Koukoulopoulos, \"Divisors of shifted primes\", arXiv:0905.0163v3, proof of Theorem 1.7 on pp. 28 to 31; lemmas on pp. 7 to 10. Ford, arXiv:2408.03803v4, Hypothesis Z(gamma) on p. 3 and section 3 on pp. 8 to 10. Hashes are in `sources/SHA256SUMS`. `BLIND.md` was committed before this file and before returns #5073 and #3566 and the audit were read. Where this file departs from the blind statement, the departure is listed in \"Against the blind statement\".\n\n## Result\n\nProven, from Ford's Hypothesis Z(1/2) alone (Bombieri-Vinogradov, as recorded on Ford p. 3). The windowed consumer of route 269 has an asymptotic with error O_A(x (log x)^(-A)) for every fixed A. The consumer is the sum over n in J = (x/2, x] of Lambda(n-2) times sum_{d | n, d <= x^(6/25)} mu(d)(1 - rho_hat_L(d)) beta_V(n/d), with the department's exact rho_hat_L and beta_V, V = floor(x^(6/25)). That makes it two-sided, so any one-sided aggregate for it follows. The reason is the identity beta_V(k) = log k - sum_{l | k, l <= V} Lambda(l). With it, every modulus in the sum is d or d*l with d <= x^(6/25) and l <= V, hence at most x^(12/25) < x^(1/2). Koukoulopoulos's Lemma 2.7 supplies none of this and is not needed.\n\nSo the answer to the route's question is: **every (L) step the windowed consumer needs is supplied, by Z(1/2), with the obligation written out in the closing section.** Return #3566 item 6 expanded the weight over the large prime powers of the cofactor instead, which produced moduli near x. Its claim that this weighted layer \"has no published supplier\" is therefore wrong for the window. What stays open is the complement d > x^(6/25), where the coefficient is plain mu(d), together with the sign of the explicit main term M^W, which this file does not evaluate. That complement is the sum B of prime-detection-spec (11) with U = b_L. It lies outside the window, and these sources do not supply it.\n\nIn Koukoulopoulos's own geometry the divisor d runs over (y, z] with y > sqrt(x). There, the first (L) step that Lemma 2.7 plus Z(gamma) cannot supply for a signed coefficient is (4.16), as consumed by line 3 of (4.18) (quoted in the closing section).\n\n## How a step is classed\n\n- **(L)**: the displayed relation is an identity, or an estimate whose error is a mean value of E(X; k, b) = pi(X; k, b) - li(X)/phi(k) over moduli k, and it is linear in the coefficient carried by the divisor variable. Replacing that coefficient keeps the step valid exactly when the step's input accepts the new coefficient. \"Linear in the coefficient\" includes sequence-free main-term evaluations such as sum 1/phi(d) over an interval.\n- **(P)**: the relation holds because a quantity is a nonnegative count. The mechanisms are a set inclusion, a union bound, dropping nonnegative terms, Cauchy-Schwarz on a support, or an upper-bound sieve such as Brun-Titchmarsh. With a signed coefficient the step either fails or survives only after majorizing |c|, which discards the sign.\n\nContext before the first display (p. 28, first sentence of the proof): \"We may assume that y > sqrt(x); else the result follows from Theorems 1.3 and 1.6 with Delta = x.\" Every row below therefore has y > sqrt(x). The rows from (4.13) onward also have eta <= log^(-2)(5x/z), and from (4.14) onward z > x^(2/3) (p. 28: \"it suffices to consider the case z > x^(2/3), since if z <= x^(2/3) ... by Theorem 4.1\").\n\n## The steps, (4.12) to (4.22)\n\nPage numbers are printed page numbers of arXiv:0905.0163v3. This is Lambda_{>V} * 1, the last term of global-cutoff-averaging (7). Return #3566 item 2 calls it \"log of the W_L-rough part\". The two differ when p <= V < p^j divides k, because beta_V counts log p for each such prime power.\n- The route's window coefficient is c(d) = mu(d) h(d) 1[d <= x^(6/25)]. Since h = 0 for d <= a_L, the window (x^(11/50), x^(6/25)] is automatic, and |c(d)| <= 1.\n- B_L(x) = sum_{dk in J, d > a_L, k > V} mu(d) h(d) beta_V(k) Lambda(dk-2) splits exactly as B_L = B_L^W + B_L^c, where B_L^W keeps d <= x^(6/25) and B_L^c keeps d > x^(6/25), on which h(d) = 1. The constraint k > V is automatic, since beta_V(k) = 0 for k <= V.\n\n**Theorem W (proven from Z(1/2)).** For every fixed A > 0,\n\nB_L^W(x) = M^W(x) + O_A(x (log x)^(-A)),\n\nM^W(x) = sum_{d odd} (mu(d) h_W(d)/phi(d)) integral_J log(t/d) dt - (x/2) sum_{d odd} sum_{l <= V, l odd} mu(d) h_W(d) Lambda(l)/phi(dl),\n\nwhere h_W(d) = h(d) 1[d <= x^(6/25)] and l runs over prime powers.\n\n*Proof.* Insert beta_V(n/d) = log(n/d) - sum_{l \\| n/d, l <= V} Lambda(l):\n\nB_L^W = sum_{d} c(d) sum_{n in J, d \\| n} log(n/d) Lambda(n-2) - sum_{M} gamma(M) sum_{n in J, M \\| n} Lambda(n-2),  gamma(M) = sum_{dl = M, l <= V} c(d) Lambda(l).\n\nFor each l, \"l divides n/d\" is the same as \"dl divides n\", so the identity is exact. The first sum has moduli d <= x^(6/25) and coefficient |c| <= 1, with the smooth weight log(n/d). The second has moduli M = dl <= x^(6/25) V <= x^(12/25) and |gamma(M)| <= sum_{l \\| M} Lambda(l) = log M.\n\nFix an odd modulus M and a weight f. Then sum_{n in J, M \\| n} f(n) Lambda(n-2) = sum_{q in J-2, q = -2 (mod M)} f(q+2) Lambda(q).\n\n- The prime powers q = p^j with j >= 2 contribute at most sum_{p^j <= x, j >= 2} tau(p^j + 2) log x << x^(1/2+eps) in total over all M.\n- For the primes, partial summation from pi(t; M, -2) = li(t)/phi(M) + E(t; M, -2) gives the main term (1/phi(M)) integral_J f(t) dt. The error is |E| at the endpoints times sup|f|, plus integral |E(t; M, -2)| |df|.\n- Sum over M with the coefficient bounds above. Ford's Z(1/2) at a = 2, with delta = 1 and eps = 1/50 (12/25 = 1/2 - 1/50), is applied at every t in [x/4, x]. It gives sum_{M <= x^(12/25), (M,2)=1} |pi(t; M, -2) - pi(t)/phi(M)| << t (log t)^(-B) for every B.\n- Replacing pi(t) by li(t) costs x exp(-c sqrt(log x)) log x.\n- Even moduli: if M is even and M divides q+2, then q is even, so q = 2^j. That gives O(log x) terms per M and O(x^(12/25) (log x)^2) in total.\n\nThe weights log(n/d) <= log x and the coefficient bound log M cost fixed powers of log x, which B absorbs. QED.\n\nLemma 2.7 is not used. Its r-slot needs r <= x^(1/10 - eps), and every d in the window exceeds x^(11/50). Its q-slot takes no signed coefficient (BLIND.md, B1, \"Which input\").\n\nTheorem W is not new to the department's record. The mirror's `research/global-cutoff-averaging.md` already prices the same object in its margin table (row \"first prime BV Type I sums | floor(u)V <= b_L V <= x^(12/25) | below x^(1/2) by exponent 1/50\"). What this file adds is the proof written out against Ford's printed Z(1/2), the exact identity that keeps every modulus at most x^(12/25), and the contradiction with return #3566 item 6, which says the opposite about the same sum.\n\n**What M^W is.** Theorem W evaluates B_L^W to within O_A(x (log x)^(-A)), and both one-sided versions of (12) for the window follow from it. I did not evaluate M^W further. The sum over d is mu(d) h(d)/phi(d) against a weight that is smooth in log d plus an additive function of the primes of d. I expect it to be O(x exp(-c sqrt(log x))), because the Euler product of mu(d)/phi(d) vanishes at s = 0. **That expectation is not proved here.**\n\n**Step by step.** The consumer is linear. It equals sum_{q prime power, q+2 in J} Lambda(q) T_c(q), with T_c(q) = sum_{d \\| q+2} c(d) beta_V((q+2)/d). The obligation is one inequality, Ford's Hypothesis Z(1/2) as printed on p. 3, at a = 2, eps = 1/50 and delta = 1, at each t in [x/4, x]:\n\n  sum_{m <= t^(1/2 - 1/50), P^+(m) <= t, (m,2)=1} | pi(t; m, -2) - pi(t)/phi(m) | <<_{B} t (log t)^(-B).\n\nFord, p. 3: \"Hypothesis Z(1/2) (where we may take delta = 1 for any eps > 0) is a consequence of the Bombieri-Vinogradov Theorem [6, Chapter 28].\" The step also needs x^(12/25) <= t^(1/2 - 1/50) for t >= x/4, up to a constant; that holds because 12/25 = 0.48 = 1/2 - 1/50 and t >= x/4. The constant is absorbed by applying Z(1/2) with eps slightly below 1/50, which is allowed for any eps > 0. No input from Lemma 2.7 is used.\n\n**In Koukoulopoulos's own geometry** (divisor d in (y, z], y > sqrt(x), z up to x (log x)^(-C-1)), the first (L) step that Lemma 2.7 plus Z(gamma) cannot supply for a signed bounded coefficient c is (4.16), as consumed by (4.18c). The inequality it would need is\n\n  | sum_{y < d <= z, (d,s)=1} c(d) (pi(X; d, -s) - li(X)/phi(d)) | <<_{s,B} X (log X)^(-B-2),  X in {2x/3 - s, x/2 - s}, z <= X (log X)^(-C).\n\nThe failing hypotheses, read on the printed pages:\n\n- Lemma 2.7 (p. 10) bounds sum_{r <= R} | sum_{q <= Q} (...) | with R <= x^(1/10 - eps). A coefficient on d > x^(1/10) can sit only in the q-slot. That slot has no absolute value, so it accepts only 1_{q <= Q}, or by Abel summation a coefficient of bounded total variation at a cost of TV(c) x (log x)^(-A). For c = mu(d) h(d), TV(c) is of order the number of squarefree d in the range.\n- Z(gamma) (Ford p. 3) needs m <= x^(gamma - eps) and P^+(m) <= x^delta. The best gamma Ford records is 1/2 + 1/42 (Maynard, Cor. 1.2, not opened), and d here runs up to x^(1-o(1)).\n\nThis is a statement about these two inputs. It is not a claim that no supplier exists.\n\n## Against the blind statement\n\n- BLIND's B2 and B3(a) priced a cofactor weight that is a sieve indicator, w2 = 1[P^-(m) >= z0] log m, because I had not yet read the definition of the route's weight. The actual weight beta_V = Lambda_{>V} * 1 is additive, and B1's method extends to it exactly through beta_V = log - Lambda_{<=V} * 1. So the one-sided F/f loss of B2 does not arise for the route's consumer. B2 stands as a statement about w2 and is not used.\n- BLIND B5 predicted that line 3 of (4.18) would be the first unsupplied (L) step for the rough cofactor. For the actual weight it is supplied (Theorem W). The prediction for Koukoulopoulos's own geometry, (4.16) as consumed by (4.18c), stands.\n- BLIND B5 classed the \">>\" of (4.17) as (P). On rereading it is a pointwise two-sided Siegel-Walfisz asymptotic read on the lower side, linear in a coefficient on q, so this file classes it (L).\n- BLIND B4 (the window does not enter (4.12) to (4.22) in either orientation) and B1 stand.\n\n## Corrections to the record\n\n- **#3566 item 6.** It says expanding the rough-part log \"produces AP prime counts at moduli d p^j reaching x-scale\" and that \"the weighted layer has no published supplier\". The expansion over large prime powers does reach x. The expansion beta_V = log - Lambda_{<=V} * 1 keeps every modulus at most x^(12/25), and Z(1/2) supplies the windowed consumer two-sidedly (Theorem W). The missing estimate is the complement B_L^c, where the coefficient is plain mu(d) on d > x^(6/25). That is not a window-weighted object.\n- **#3566 item 4.** It credits \"Z(1/2+1/40) published (Stadlmann, smooth moduli only)\". Ford p. 3 records Z(1/2 + 1/42) as the best known, due to Maynard, and says Zhang, Polymath8b and Stadlmann give gamma > 1/2 \"with the sum restricted to squarefree m\". Neither cited paper was opened here.\n- **#3566 item 2.** \"beta_{W_L}(k) = log t_{W_L}(k), the log of the W_L-rough part\" is not exact. beta_V(k) = sum_{l \\| k, l > V} Lambda(l) also counts log p for p <= V when a power p^j > V divides k.\n- **#5073 F2.** It says the large-eta branch \"reduces to Theorem 1.1\". Page 31 uses Theorems 1.1 and 1.3 and Lemma 2.11 for the upper bound, and Theorem 1.6 (so Theorem 4.1 and its bilinear use of Lemma 2.7, pp. 26 to 27) for the lower bound.\n- **#5073 F3.** It calls (4.13) coefficient-linear. (4.13) is a union bound plus Brun-Titchmarsh, so it is (P), upper side. It also says the error of the AP sum in (4.18) is \"exactly the bilinear BFI input of Lemma 2.7\". The step uses (4.16), which is Lemma 2.7 with R = 1, a linear statement with no r-sum. The bilinear r-sum appears only in (4.10) and (4.11).\n- **Route 269 next_step.** It says the small-eta branch \"uses Brun-Titchmarsh and Siegel-Walfisz\". The branch also uses Lemma 2.7 through (4.16) in (4.18c), whenever x/z >= (log x)^(C+1).\n\n## What this rests on\n\n- Ford, arXiv:2408.03803v4, p. 3: the statement of Z(gamma), and the sentence deriving Z(1/2) with delta = 1 from Bombieri-Vinogradov (Davenport ch. 28, not opened).\n- Koukoulopoulos, arXiv:0905.0163v3, pp. 7, 10 and 28 to 31, read as text and as page images for pp. 10 and 26 to 30.\n- The department's definitions of rho_hat_L, beta_V, a_L, b_L, V and of (12), read in the public mirror: `research/global-cutoff-averaging.md` (1), (4), (7); `research/global-smooth-majorant.md` (2), (3); `research/prime-detection-spec.md` (11); `research/joint-correction-source-audit.md` (12). The same x^(12/25) level is already the 'first prime BV Type I sums' row of the mirror's global-cutoff-averaging.md margin table.","assumptions_md":"Ford's Z(1/2) as printed (a = 2, delta = 1, eps = 1/50); the department's definitions as read in the public mirror (if any differs from what the route meant, Theorem W must be rechecked). Not opened: BFI Theorem 9, Davenport, Maynard, Stadlmann, Halberstam-Richert. M^W is expected to be O(x exp(-c sqrt(log x))) but that is not proved here.","artifact_sha256":["abcc6924fefe26650c16bc320c6b79436030bdbe1baafce2212c5644d316fb9c","44f83987319eff31faea4cd37ceb1a661236719a371502fd99c2b0cbf6184cf1","3fa6b25d0e121cf22719da4a17f9df23edd7bcb7d1fcb59d5902d77e6c3785e6","bf49d4951f680c6dbc2616aeb2cba9e51616944132f385d61387e8170ec8b84e"],"transfer_conditions_md":"A reader checks the beta_V identity and the modulus bound d * l <= x^(12/25) (two lines), then Ford p. 3 for Z(1/2) from Bombieri-Vinogradov.
