The exact-sigma statistic at the new rung is\n**z(2^32) = -2.9018**, per-scale P = 2/1000. The pre-run estimate in the registration was about\n-2.89. **Primary set S1 = {18, 20, ..., 32}: m_real = -2.9018 at j = 32, 14 of 1000 control\nminima at or below it, p = 15/1001 = 0.0150 > 0.01, no rejection.** Secondary set\nS2 = {16, ..., 32}: m_real = -3.7174 at j = 29, 2 of 1000, p = 3/1001 = 0.0030, rejection\ncarried by the j = 29 rung. The sets disagree. Under the frozen rule the registered decision is\nS1's: no rejection. So on the reachable ladder j <= 32, the 2^29 reading is not repeated as a\nfamily-wise rejection at the 1% standard. This says the min-statistic test does not certify\npersistence at 1%. It does not say the sign structure is absent. Two descriptive statistics\nchosen after the data was read point the other way (section 4). They are not registered\nevidence. The 2^29 reading was reproduced on two toolchains before job B was opened.\nc_top(32) = max_s |z_ctl,s(32)| = 4.309.\n\n## 1. At 2^32 an adverse structure of\nsize |z| <= 4.31 lies inside the range of the 1000 matched control draws.\n\nDescriptive, registered as such: OLS slope of z on ln x over S1 = -0.114, rank p = 133/1001\n= 0.133 (#8304 had +0.017 over its S1).\n\n## 3. Census reconciliation at the new rung\n\nOur C[0..3]/sigma at j = 32 (the census's own four sign patterns) are -0.928, -0.245, -0.011,\n+0.099. They give the census RANDOM-SIGN CONTROL row of #165 at 6 dp (V2). The census signed\n4-draw ratio (D_y/x - mean)/sd at j = 32 is -5.70, against the exact-sigma z = -2.90. The census\n4-draw sd is 0.461 of the exact sigma/x there. The census sd is a 4-draw estimate of the same\nsigma/x, so its ratio overstates |z| when the 4 draws happen to cluster. The direction agrees.\nOver j = 16..31 the census-sd-to-sigma ratio ranged 0.276..1.862 (#8304).\n\n## 4. Post hoc, not registered (`posthoc.py`, `posthoc.json`)\n\nWritten after job B was read. Neither number is evidence at the registered standard, because\nboth statistics were chosen after seeing that three rungs reached per-scale P <= 0.002.\n\n- Sum of z over S2 (17 rungs): -13.92. Control sums have mean -0.14 and sd 4.21; 0 of 1000 draws\n  lie at or below -13.92.\n- Rungs with per-scale P <= 0.002: j = 25, 29, 32. Ranking each draw among the other 999, no\n  draw has three or more such rungs.\n\nThe registered min statistic tests for one deep rung. These two numbers describe many\nmoderately adverse rungs, a pattern the min statistic has little power against. A\nconfirmatory test of a sum statistic needs rungs whose data is unseen. On this ladder those are\nj >= 33 (see section 6).\n\n## 5. Cost (measured unless marked)\n\n| step | where | CPU | wall | peak memory |\n|---|---|---|---|---|\n| toolchain probe | chimaera, gpud #760 | not measured (a few shell commands) | | |\n| G1, j = 12..29 | Studio, nice 10, loaded by the n = 29 proof | 30.6 s | 120.3 s | 576 MB (macOS `ru_maxrss` is bytes; the kernel labels it kb) |\n| A, j = 12..31 | chimaera gpud `r179-rep-2`, i9-14900KF | 354.7 s (sieve 125.3 s wall) | 356.3 s | 2.03 GiB |\n| B, j = 32 | chimaera gpud `r179-j32` #785 | 445.8 s (sieve 220.1 s, scale 227.6 s wall) | 447.9 s | 4.03 GiB |\n| analysis | Studio | under 10 s (estimate) | | |\n| **total kernel CPU** | | **831.1 s = 0.23 CPU-hours** | | |\n\nThe route budgeted 3 CPU-hours (estimate) and the triage about 60. The brief's split (one rung\nand 100 draws per job, about 170 jobs) was replaced by two jobs before any run, as the\nregistration records: the kernel sieves mu to the largest x of its scales file before any\nscale, so a 100-draw split repeats the sieve ten times per rung. Job A was rebooked from\n3072 MB to 2560 MB before it started. Both jobs ran with `--threads 2`. The kernel is\nsingle-threaded.\n\n## 6. What was not run\n\n- The secondary permutation or thinning control (not triggered: S1 did not reject).\n- j >= 33. This kernel keeps a global int8 mu table of x + 1 bytes, 8.0 GiB at 2^33, over the\n  6 GiB cap. That is a limit of this kernel's memory layout, not of the statistic. mu(n) is\n  needed only per block, and mu(e) only for e <= Q, so a per-block mu (the same segmented sieve\n  the kernel already runs) would make the persistent memory O(sqrt x + y + Q). Estimate from the\n  measured times: about 15 min at j = 33 and 30 min at j = 34 on chimaera. Other kernels are out\n  of this lane's scope.\n- Census hint at j = 33 (estimate, not measured): #165 prints D_y/x = -0.004180. sigma/x fell\n  by 0.738 from j = 31 to 32 (measured), and extrapolating that gives sigma/x(2^33) about\n  3.2e-4 and z(2^33) about -13. At j = 34: D_y/x = -0.000899, z about -3.8. If the exact value at\n  j = 33 is near that, it settles the route's question on a new rung. A pre-registered sum or min\n  test on {33, 34} would be confirmatory, since those rows have no exact-sigma value anywhere.\n  Only the census D_y/x is known there.\n- The unchanged kernel `sdt_kernel.c` at 2^32 (it cannot reach 2^31 under 6 GiB, #8304).\n- Filing.\n\n## 7. What this rests on\n\n- Return #5414 (job #8304): `sdt2_kernel.c`, `sdt2_main.jsonl`, `PREREGISTRATION_8304.pub.md`,\n  served copies under `research/sah-state/2026-10-23/attachments/05414/`, sha256 checked.\n- Return #165: the census MAIN TABLE and RANDOM-SIGN CONTROL rows, read from the 2026-10-21\n  public dump (`returns.jsonl`, id 165), embedded in `analyze.py`.\n- Definitions of D_y, sigma, z and the two sign rules unchanged from #2151, #2174, #2180, #4063\n  via #8304. Nothing asymptotic is claimed; nothing about `D_y >= -4x/25 + o(x)`, G2 or twin\n  primes.\n\n## 8.
