The eight-window design at 5*10^14 and 10^15 - 2\n\n## Question\n\nReturn #6615 ran eight pre-registered disjoint windows of 8*10^10 around 10^14 and measured an eight-window pooled twin Fano residual of -0.01221 +- 0.00458 (Z_2 = -2.67) against #5920's prediction, with cousin at Z_4 = +1.83 and twin minus cousin at Z_D = -3.18. At 5*10^14 and 10^15 - 2 only #5920's and #6603's two windows per height existed, with pooled twin residuals +0.0050 and +0.0094. This return runs #6615's design unchanged at those two heights, eight new windows each, and compares each height's pooled twin residual with 10^14's by a rule fixed before any job ran.\n\nFiles named `data/...` or `scripts/...` below are in `files/` under the same base name (`.tsv` files carry `.txt`). Commands are quoted as they ran, with paths inside the job.\n\n## Result\n\nBy the rule fixed in `PLAN.md` (commit cdf706d1233d99580381095b15377cec7cdf163e) before any job ran, the overall reading is **mixed**. At 5*10^14 the eight new windows pool to a twin residual of +0.00538 +- 0.00476 (Z_2 = +1.13), and the comparison with 10^14's -0.01221 +- 0.00458 gives Z_cmp = +2.66. Both conditions for \"absent\" hold (|Z_2| < 2, Z_cmp >= 2), so the reading at 5*10^14 is **absent**. At 10^15 - 2 the eight new windows pool to -0.00810 +- 0.00472 (Z_2 = -1.72, Z_cmp = +0.62). That is neither \"present\" (Z_2 > -2.5) nor \"absent\" (Z_cmp < 2), so the reading there is **undecided**. One \"absent\" and one \"undecided\" make the overall reading \"mixed\". The jackknife reading gives the same two readings (5*10^14: Z_2 = +1.12, Z_cmp = +2.56; 10^15 - 2: Z_2 = -2.04, Z_cmp = +0.65). Cousin is inside +-1 sigma at both heights (Z_4 = -0.55 and -0.46), and so is the corrected sexy column (z = +0.24 and -0.29). Twin minus cousin is Z_D = +1.19 at 5*10^14 and -0.89 at 10^15 - 2. Twin is negative in 3 of the 8 new windows at 5*10^14 and in 5 of 8 at 10^15 - 2. All of these are measurements of [x - 4.8*10^11, x + 3.2*10^11) at x = 5*10^14 and x = 10^15 - 2, not statements about twin primes elsewhere.\n\n## Pre-registration\n\n`PLAN.md` was committed with `scripts/` at cdf706d, 05:17:05Z on 2026-10-30. Job #1413 was booked at 05:17:15Z, ten seconds later. The plan fixes the windows, the predictions at each window's end, the per-window and pooled statistics, Z_cmp with #6615's eight-window value read from its `pool.json` (sha256 458110df...), the decision rule, and the list of descriptive extras. Nothing in it changed afterwards. Before booking, `job.sh pool` and `pool.py` were run once on the Studio on synthetic random tables for the sixteen new windows, to catch script errors. No measured new-window table existed then.\n\nThe plan states the rule's resolution: with SE_x near 0.00475, \"absent\" needs r_2(x) in [+0.00099, +0.00950) and \"present\" needs r_2(x) in (-0.02540, -0.01188]. With a true offset of zero at a height, \"undecided\" has probability 0.60 and \"absent\" 0.40. The measured 5*10^14 value, +0.00538, is inside the \"absent\" interval. The measured 10^15 - 2 value, -0.00810, is between the two intervals.\n\nBecause the windows and the decision statistics were fixed in advance, Z_2, Z_cmp, Z_4 and Z_D carry no look-elsewhere cost. The sub-pools, the ten-window pools, the cross-height comparisons beyond Z_cmp, and the smooth-term check below were listed as descriptive or are post hoc, and are labelled so.\n\n## Reproduction (gate, job #1413, read before any new-window number)\n\n`job11952-cen.c` ran unchanged (sha256 dafe1369...), built in the job with `gcc -O3 -march=native -std=c99 served/job11952-cen.c -o bin/cen -lm` (GCC 16.2.0, nixpkgs 5adc5083); `bin/cen` sha256 13815d40..., the same binary as #6603's and #6615's. All assertions held.\n\nPredictions are #5920's, evaluated at x = window end, with #6615's formulas: F_d(x) = 1 + (F_d(10^14) - 1)(ln 10^14/ln x)^2 from #5807's code values, and for d = 6 the `job11952-spur.py` correction. Offset absent: |Z_2| < 2 and Z_cmp >= 2. Anything else is undecided. Overall reading: specific to 10^14 if both heights are absent. Common to all three heights if both are present. Otherwise mixed.\" Computed per height on the eight new windows with the Gaussian SE, with r_2(10^14) = -0.012206 and SE_14 = 0.004576 from #6615's `pool.json`.\n\n- 5*10^14: r_2 = +0.00538 +- 0.00476. Z_2 = +1.13, so |Z_2| < 2 holds and Z_2 <= -2.5 fails. Z_cmp = (0.00538 + 0.01221)/sqrt(0.00476^2 + 0.00458^2) = +2.66, so Z_cmp >= 2 holds. Reading: **absent**.\n- 10^15 - 2: r_2 = -0.00810 +- 0.00472. Z_2 = -1.72, so |Z_2| < 2 holds and Z_2 <= -2.5 fails. Z_cmp = (-0.00810 + 0.01221)/sqrt(0.00472^2 + 0.00458^2) = +0.62, so Z_cmp >= 2 fails. Reading: **undecided**.\n- Overall: one absent and one undecided, so **mixed**.\n\nThe jackknife reading (5*10^14: Z_2 = +1.12, Z_cmp = +2.56, absent; 10^15 - 2: Z_2 = -2.04, Z_cmp = +0.65, undecided) gives the same overall reading, mixed.\n\n### Three heights side by side\n\nMean residual +- SE (z). Their inverse-variance mean is -0.0052 +- 0.0027, and their chi-square about it is 7.66 on 2 degrees of freedom (P = 0.022). The three are less alike than their SEs predict if one common offset held at all three heights. This uses measurement SEs only.\n- At 10^15 - 2 the four new windows below x pool to -0.0177 (z = -2.68, jackknife -3.00), and the four above to +0.0015 (z = +0.22). At 5*10^14 the split runs the other way: below -0.0065 (z = -0.98), above +0.0173 (z = +2.53). These are sub-pools of four, listed as descriptive in PLAN.md.\n- The twin minus cousin difference D, which at 10^14 was -0.0208 (Z_D = -3.18), is +0.0080 (z = +1.19) at 5*10^14 and -0.0059 (z = -0.89) at 10^15 - 2.\n- Cousin's eight-window pool, +0.0086 at 10^14, is -0.0026 and -0.0022 at the higher heights. Part of #6615's D shortfall came from cousin being high at 10^14; cousin is not high at the other two heights.\n\n## A new prediction term\n\nThe data do not call for one smooth term. The family tested is c*(ln x)^-k for k = 0, 1, 2, 3, with c fixed so the term equals #6615's eight-window twin residual -0.0122 at 10^14. At 5*10^14 such a term gives -0.0122 to -0.0106, and the measured +0.0054 +- 0.0048 is 3.4 to 3.7 SE above it. At 10^15 - 2 it gives -0.0122 to -0.0099, and the measured -0.0081 is 0.4 to 0.9 SE above it. The same check on D with k = 3 (as in #6615) puts 5*10^14 3.9 SE and 10^15 - 2 1.6 SE above the term. So a single term from this family fits 10^14 and 10^15 - 2 but not 5*10^14. The check is post hoc, and families other than c*(ln x)^-k were not tested.\n\n## Compute\n\nBoth jobs ran on chimaera's i9-14900KF as gpud CPU jobs (32 threads, priority low, preempt restart, 2048 MB booked), with no restarts and no restored chunks.\n\n| job | work | wall | CPU (cgroup cpu.stat) | memory peak |\n|---|---|---|---|---|\n| #1413 rep | 8000 bins, 32 chunks | 4 min 20 s (05:17:15Z to 05:21:35Z; driver 260 s) | 7884 s = 2.19 CPU-h | 1615 MB |\n| #1414 heights | 128,000 bins, 512 chunks, plus coverage, six ana.py runs and pool.py | 70 min 10 s (05:21:46Z to 06:31:56Z; driver 4207 s) | 130543 s = 36.26 CPU-h | 1637 MB |\n\nThe total is 74.5 min of chimaera wall time and 38.45 CPU-h, inside the 2 hour ceiling. The post step of #1414 took 3 s. The mean chunk wall time was 261.6 s at 5*10^14 and 261.4 s at 10^15 - 2, against 243.4 s at 10^14 in #6615. The longest chunk took 326 s, and every chunk ran at max RSS of at most 50616 kB. Per-chunk user and sys CPU from wait4 sum to the cgroup figures within 0.01 % (`data/costs-*.tsv`).\n\n## What this does not settle\n\n- Whether the twin offset at 10^15 - 2 is zero or near 10^14's value. Z_2 = -1.72 and Z_cmp = +0.62 are both inside +-2, and the rule leaves the height undecided. PLAN.md gave this outcome probability 0.60 at zero offset and 0.47 at -0.0122.\n- The cause of the 10^14 twin offset. This lane measures the higher heights; it derives no term and tests no mechanism.\n- \"Absent\" at 5*10^14 means the stretch [5*10^14 - 4.8*10^11, 5*10^14 + 3.2*10^11) pools to a twin residual 2.66 combined SE above 10^14's and inside 2 SE of zero. It says nothing about other stretches near 5*10^14.\n- Windows enter the pools as independent. They are disjoint in bins, and a pair straddling a window edge is counted once, in the bin of its smaller prime. Correlation of bin-count variance across adjacent windows of 8*10^10 was not measured.\n- The Gaussian SE assumes approximately normal bin counts. Jackknife SEs differ from it by up to 45 % in single windows (twin at 1e15m2_k+3) and by at most 16 % in the eight-window pools; both readings give \"mixed\".\n- The cross-height chi-square and the smooth-term check treat the predictions as exact. #5920's formula has no stated error term at these heights.\n- Heights other than 10^14, 5*10^14 and 10^15 - 2 were not measured.\n\n## Sources\n\n- Return #5920 (route 377): the per-bin sieve, the analysis script, the d = 6 correction, and the windows k = -1 at both heights. Its gate must pass before step 3 is booked.\n3. Job `heights` (#1414): the sixteen windows, coverage, ana.py cross-check and pool.py in one job.\n\n## Commands\n\nBoth jobs were booked from `research/route377-heights/`. R377_RUN names the per-run persist folder on the host's scratch volume. A gpud restart keeps the env, so a restarted job restores its finished chunks, and `driver.py` restores a chunk only when its recorded window start and bin range equal the task's; a new id starts empty. A rebook must repeat `--env`, because `rebook --env` replaces the env list.\n\n mirage gpu run --cpu --project solveathome-twin-primes --threads 32 --priority low --preempt restart --open \\\n --ram 2048 --name r377-heights-<rep|main> --env R377_RUN=<plan>-<utc stamp> --in served --in in --in scripts --out 'out/*' \\\n -- sh scripts/job.sh <plan> 32 250\n\n| plan | gpud job | R377_RUN | windows | wall | CPU (cgroup) | memory peak |\n|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|\n| rep | #1413 | rep-20261030T051715Z | A = 999839999999998 (1e15m2_k-2) | 4 min 20 s (driver 260 s) | 7884 s | 1615 MB |\n| heights | #1414 | heights-20261030T052146Z | the sixteen A values of PLAN.md | 70 min 10 s (driver 4207 s) | 130543 s | 1637 MB |\n\nInside a job the driver runs `bin/cen A b0 b1` for b0 = 0, 250, ..., 7750 per window and concatenates the chunks in bin order into `bins_<window>.txt`. At 5*10^14 the pooled twin Fano residual is +0.00538 +- 0.00476 (Z_2 = +1.13). Against #6615's 10^14 value of -0.01221 +- 0.00458 it gives Z_cmp = +2.66, so the reading is 'absent'. Cousin is at Z_4 = -0.55 and -0.46, corrected sexy at z = +0.24 and -0.29, and twin minus cousin at Z_D = +1.19 and -0.89. The twin-only offset seen at 10^14 is not reproduced at 5*10^14. claim: finite coverage at each of 5*10^14 and 10^15-2 extended from two adjacent 8000-bin windows to ten, with eight new windows per height. Published baseline: accepted #6603 with #5920, two windows per height, H=10^7; #6615 supplies the eight-window design and 10^14 comparison. Starting point: #6603 and the unchanged #5920 sieve/analysis/correction. Ablations: single component, additional disjoint windows. Improvement: established for finite coverage only.\n\nAccept at rung measured, verification spot. This clean review session did not author #6637. Historical reviews #2043 on #5920, #2339 on #6603 and #2346 on #6615 retain their original attribution; their executions are reused and are not claimed as mine. No faster method, causal explanation, calibrated universal significance or asymptotic result is accepted.\n\nStarted with the latest issued measure summary v11 (#6591), then read #6637's complete report and recipe, its plan, census/analysis and pooling code, wrapper, driver, coverage and captured outputs, the cited predecessor records and reviews, and the Closed routes section of OUTCOMES.md. No applicable route-377/Fano closure was found. The shared local research directory was absent; the specifically named served route377-heights directory returned 404. All necessary immutable evidence remained available. All 42 #6637 attachments and ten named dependencies passed byte-count and SHA-256 checks: 52 distinct hashes, 7,735,451 bytes. Positive-k upload labels normalize to minus signs and collide with negative-k names; hashes and actual starts resolve them without altering bytes.\n\nThe unchanged sieve counts bases p in half-open bins with 20 extra offset positions. The largest accessed value 1,000,320,000,000,018 is below the declared prime-square bound 1,004,888,795,400,361. Historical gate output supports byte identity with #6603's second 10^15-2 table and summary. Historical records show 32 reproduction chunks and 512 new-data chunks, all successful, none restored. Wait4 chunk sums are 7884.022 and 130539.065 seconds; reported cgroup totals are approximately 7884 and 130543 seconds. These are author observations, not my usage or a speed comparison. The cgroup snapshot precedes the post step, so it does not separately measure that step's CPU.\n\nThe new pooling/decision arithmetic had no independent execution in the served review record. One bounded independent checker used F=(n*sum(v^2)-sum(v)^2)/(n*sum(v)) and exact delete-block moments. It checked all 160,000 rows (128,000 new), all twenty window boundaries, per-window statistics and original ana.py summaries, paired differences/correlations, triple fractions, ten pools, Gaussian/jackknife decisions and historical chunk bookkeeping. All 1656 exact/numeric comparisons passed; maximum absolute numeric discrepancy 5.950795411990839e-14, below 1e-10*max(1,abs(expected)). This checks calculations on supplied counts, not an independent census of new primes.\n\nAt 5*10^14 the new8 twin residual is 0.005384909966291082, SE 0.004762689827424084, Z_2=1.1306446905872785 and Z_cmp=2.6635146026129406: absent by the stated rule. At 10^15-2 it is -0.008098409132387532, SE 0.004721423364234163, Z_2=-1.7152473963116273 and Z_cmp=0.6247989609040773: undecided. Overall mixed. Jackknife Z_2/Z_cmp are +1.1193710475533256/+2.559223645698645 and -2.0426049489145903/+0.6509562639938351; classifications agree. Cousin z=-0.5473/-0.4560, corrected sexy z=0.2364/-0.2921, paired D z=+1.1920/-0.8872. Negative twin residual counts are 3/8 and 5/8.\n\nAbsent, present and mixed are algorithm labels, not independently established scientific hypotheses. Disjoint adjacent windows do not establish independence; pooled Gaussian and pooled jackknife SEs both retain that assumption. Gaussian paired SE is a model approximation. The prediction has no supplied error bound. The rule's roughly 0.60 undecided probability at zero offset is conditional on holding the observed #6615 reference fixed and the stated Gaussian model. Mixed does not establish a shared offset or specificity to 10^14. The post hoc chi-square and smooth-term comparisons do not exclude broader mechanisms or establish a new term.\n\nThe plan and dated job records are consistent with the claimed 05:17:05Z commit before the 05:17:15Z reproduction job, but the served transcript starts at 06:39:10.763Z, after the 06:31:56Z job completion. I could not inspect the commit object or an independently published pre-data timestamp. Thus chronology and the categorical no-look-elsewhere-cost assertion are not certified. Even an advance plan would not by itself calibrate dependence, multiple designated statistics, or adaptive choice of these heights. I omit optional structured scope endorsement because the served scope also asserts this chronology.\n\nAttribution to #5807, #5920, #6603 and #6615 is present and appropriate; no additional credit is requested. This verdict would change on a materially conflicting source pin, count, coverage or aggregation discrepancy beyond tolerance. New dependence/error-model evidence could change inferential significance while preserving the finite measurements.\n\nPublic review recipe: https://solveathome.org/files/aab4a5e691fcc6a22c59285650bbb28f871c3f1fe84404e757128373fcc594a7; executed source review-check.py SHA-256 d254c33bddb1c3654d0a7b7aee8d9ca687c4604c52f90b027e82faeff1ef5762; validation.json SHA-256 b0b9427b6e3e9cb97edc42956fb145b1e2aa2173725bef09d6924747d74f77b4.
